Given that Boris talked about doing exactly this in the event of getting a mandate to leave, I'm not sure what makes you think it won't happen. Do you mean the EU won't agree, or that the UK won't try it?
A bit of both, they'll look weak and if we got any relief on certain aspects of any potential deal, I'm not sure that'd sit well with the other 27 members, they'd be opening a can of worms.

A majority made up with a large portion of pensioners who shouldn't even be allowed to drive never mind decide an entire nations future.

The majority of logical people voted to remain.

What a load of rubbish the above is.

It is an absolute DISGRACE that you say that pensioners shouldn't be allowed to vote. Is that because they have more worldly-wide knowledge and experience than you? Is it because they can actually think the complex issues through to a sensible conclusion? Is it because they are more intelligent than you? Is it because they can actually think for themselves, and not be led, child-like, into believing all the scary nonsense that the likes of Cameron, Osborne, and all the so-called financial experts put out? Put out in their own financial self-interest, not for the interests of the nation.

"...The majority of logical people voted to remain..." This is a stupid (and I'm being kind here when I use that word) thing to say. Let me explain why. Every single thing than each individual does in this world, is connected to something that has immediately gone before. There is therefore a logical progression to everything, and everything is linked. Ergo, illogical is a redundant term. Totally. All voters brought to bear their LOGICAL views when arriving at a decision on which way to vote, or whether to vote at all. For you to claim that the majority of logical people voted to remain is therefore a premise that does not hold water. It is 100% flawed reasoning. It shows a basic lack of understanding of the legal term 'He who asserts must prove'. Give me your proof. Please do. I awiat your evidence...

Unfortunately, what you posted is symptomatic of the arrogant, superior, attitude of so many of the remain voters, who are now acting like a bear with a sore ar*e because they came second in a two-horse race.

After USA, China, Japan and Germany - the UK has the worlds 5th largest economy.

Regarding access to the single market - I'd suspect the UK is in a very strong position to negotiate.

There will be some appetite within the EU to make an example of the UK to discourage others but I think the majority wont cut off their nose to spite their face.

This is an excellent thread regarding all the issues surrounding the EU issue.

However, I'm off to watch the first of the day's games now (as I'm sure most others are).

Back later...

Grouch, I'm fed up of the same thing from that side of the argument. People like deadsoft give very little room to manoeuvre, and when they do, it all boils down to the same default reasoning with them.

I gave him the chance to read between the lines and he more or less dismissed a big part of his own case.

I get called a 'nut' for holding my views, but when I point out the glaring omission that they've failed to notice, they dismiss that, too?!

They don't listen, and that's why they lost.

I'm off the off-licence. ;)

sympathise mate

They can't get their head round the fact that in a first past the post system to lose a close race is still a loss; and that like it or not, unintended consequences, future developments for good or ill, etc etc. it is what it is.
but those who voted leave (for reasons many and various) are thickos and the lunatics have control of the nut house (they always did)
and some, even the great and the good on here are guilty of this...don't expect too much agreement

To add to this, you already have German finance ministry advocating the UK becoming an "associated partner country" of the EU.

The EU needs the UK as much as the UK needs the EU. Their markets at the moment tell you that.

Why would the EU bend over backwards to help us? We have just shat on them massively. Our departure will be clearly on their terms, regardless of our contribution in the past. It has to be extremely harsh on us to avoid contagion.

Can the EU suceed without the UK? Id say so.
Will it survive if they allow other nations to leave? And there is your answer leave voters. Thanks for what you have done.

Is 'logical' the new name for being a bad loser? Or undemocratic perhaps?

I was one of the young people who was fooled into thinking it was just a commerce thing (it was, after all, called The Common Market) so voted to join, even though French didn't want us in. (So much for saving them from their new pals in Germany!) I was therefore quite within my rights to tell Brussels that I will no longer tolerate those constantly moving goalposts and wanted out.

It was the old 'uns who gave the whingeing young adults their lives. The opportunities and freedom. Many are helped by us old 'uns to better themselves with further education and financial support with housing. We did not have the comforts that they now take for granted. You did not get these comforts from the EU. We are proud of our country and are actually hard workers. The parents of us old 'uns did not have the option of living off benefits! The state did not look after their children. When they had their mostly large families they had to work hard, doing the most unpleasant work if they had to, to put food on the table and provide shelter. Changes that have given you your luxury lifestyle were down to their hard work! People fought and died in the world wars. Many lived a living death afterwards due to their injuries and health problems. They fought so that you have your freedom today. The changes came before we joined the EU. We joined the Common Market as we believed that free trade and movement would better our lifestyles. Somewhere along the line the EEC and EU evolved, with all it's rules and regulations. Who voted to allow in so many countries? We are all for helping countries who are struggling but there is a limit. Yes, immigrants who are willing to work hard to benefit themselves and to contribute to our country are welcome. I would there no Brits who do not have immigrants in their family tree. Immigration was a big issue in many peoples' voting but it was nothing to do with racism. It was all to do with being realistic! We are a small country - our infrastructure is suffering! Us old'uns who voted out have memories much longer than you young'uns. We voted for freedom to make decisions for OUR country!

He'll notice when inflation rises, interest rates go up, GDP falls as external investment dries up and unemployment rises. It'll dawn on him at that point that he's monumentally cocked up

We will have to wait and see if any of that happens long term.
We will always have dips, the last one was 2009. Do we think it will be that bad?

I suspect he is a 18-25 remain voter (hahahahaa) with zero respect for his elders (you know the ones, the ones who shouldn't be allowed to drive who's mums and dads died for our freedom)!!! I've read and posted some crap on here but that has just gone straight in at number one WOW!!

I read that France had overtaken us due to the 100bn thats already been "lost" after the vote, was this false?
