All industries - EG the post office ROYAL MAIL sold off for peanuts - in the old days nationalised industries or big manufacturing industries, utilities were a cash cow for Governments - hence its what happens when you sell your assets off to carpet baggers.......

In the context of the conversation we were having Royal Mail is an irrelevance though.

Very good Bruce but we were once the pioneers with the USA on cars - I am blaming Governments of all polictical persuasion not employees for letting all our manufacturing industries go -for instance we have a fuel shortage with tons & tons of black gold underground in the UK instead of Fracking the gas why not with today's technology have clean coal ? the mines are still there as are the skills - Jezza wants to renationalise you can see why....

Probably because deep mine coal extraction is expensive and our coal industry was finished off by cheaper imported open cast coal.

A bit like our motor cycle industry btw, oh and our car industry.

Smokeless coal has been available for over 60 years, it still produces carbon dioxide when burned.

as does natural gas - carbon dioxide, nitrates at a 45 percent how many industries households use it ?
Into days of technology coal can be cleaned up we import gas coal is in our country......

Smokeless coal has been available for over 60 years, it still produces carbon dioxide when burned.

So does gas even nitrites......

The coal is crap shale imported coal - the only coal that is close to the Uk but never to Battersea power station as good is Columbian coal we import it to use in the power station so Gideon and Cameron shut the last profitable pit in Yorkshire with the railway running straight to Battersea power station to import by boat from Columbia coal how green , and how currupt is that , the documentary Britains last pit standing on the BBC was heartbreaking to watch!
It was in profit.......

For exporting and importing cheaply yes.......
My late Father was a miner , and my late father in law was also a miner one in Cronton the latter in Sutton Manor so I may be a bit biased , also I burn coal and logs cheaper than gas heating all my hot water, and 8 radiators .....
Been in since 1987 fantastic heating system ..."
Just googled Milford he's in for a hard Brexit - I just want a workable one as the isle of Ireland has to be looked after...

i know that Norway were looking at ways of burning it cleanly a while back, some type of filter system used in the burning process, it was a few years ago so dont know how it has gone.
