Because a lot of us food/cosmetics have banned chemicals /over eu residual limits. I listed a few specifics above re India, which will be similar in some regards.

Also note that the white paper does exclude eu labelling and gi requirements as May paves way for a US deal, they know people don't want their industrial food-stuffs and insist on this.

You’ve stolen my bait ffs lol

I was hoping one of the Brexiteers would be prepared to share the fact that we’d have to significantly lower our standards in various areas, notably food production and labelling, and thus allow inferior and rather dubious food stuffs into our food chain, as a direct result of a US deal. We’d have to align with their standards and lower our own, how does that equate with ‘taking back control’?

Haha! Some will try, I expect, most will put their heads in the proverbial. At least in the EU they were our rules, that we contributed to... Some are so wrapped up in the short term game they don't care...
