I voted to leave. However i think that Europe didnt take the threat of the uk leaving seriously enough, if they had given Cameron a better deal, eg tighter restrictions on immigration, more powers back to the uk etc im almost certain we would have remained. I for one would have.

Specifically which powers do you want to see back to UK - why and what benefit will they have? And what's the financial breakdown of them?
Again, on immigration, exactly how and why do you want restrictions tightened and what would the effect be?

I don't harbour such an opinion, you claimed I did. I have never said that all leave voters are UKIP supporters or immigrant haters, did I? You can take that back.

I said that I believe immigration to have been the most important aspect to most leavers.

You did nothing to suggest they weren't, IIRC. So don't make out your view was entirely balanced.

People have been taught to despise immigration.

Q.E.D.

Of course it did. I'm not gonna deny it wasn't one of my main reasons.

To deny that you & those others said it was because of a hatred of foreigners (When it patently isn't) is naive. You have yourselves and your attitude to blame.

If you think about it though, there is a commonality behind supporters of most populist movements around the world, whether on the left or the right, in that they have generally lost out from globalisation, and will continue losing out from things such as automation. The only thing they can count on is a degree of protectionism, whether by virtue of national borders or state instruments. I suspect that this is the main schism in the western world today, between those that broadly speaking have a chance in the modern world, and those that increasingly don't.

Was either him, or another 4 years of camoron & gidiot - Tell me, what's the difference?

The difference is, we'll probably get the chance to oust the lot of them before their term's over.

That's not what has been voted for. A massive shift to the right in UK politics, a divided nation, and at least a decade more of the right wing of the Tory party in power. A vote out was a vote for the worst Britain has to offer

Do you disagree? Argue the point instead of trying your best to find my inconsistencies, of which I personally don't think there are. Like I said, I never said leavers are UKIP voters or hate immigrants.

Huge numbers of working class communities have been told that immigration is their enemy though. It's the reason their prospects are low because they have more people to compete against, which is rubbish.

Think you're conflating separate issues.

I never said it was what was voted for. It's a by-product.

A massive shift to the right? Sunderland & the North-East, Labour heartlands...Voted overwhelmingly in favour of leave; are they all neo-nazi right wing stormtroopers all of a sudden?

This is rubbish and you know it is. Stop trying to make out people are saying the working classes are racist. That's not what's going on here.

How patronising can you get?

Shameful comment. The overwhelming majority of those people have seen for themselves and voted accordingly. Some of them might have been taken in by some of the more extreme rhetroic, but don't tell others not to generalise and then do so yourself.

Did not say right-wing stormtroopers, stop trying to derail conversations like that.

The vote wasn't on a left-wing leave, it was on a right-wing backed leave that will put further right-wingers in charge of the Tory party and give support to UKIP. The right controlled and won the Leave campaign, they are the only 'winners' out of this

The rest of Scotland think that Rangers and Celtic fans are tits.

Scotland showed who the fair nation of the Kingdom was last night while the fat Englander mask slipped and the spiteful and hateful xenophobic beast was laid free for all to gasp at.

Scotland independence, five years. Check mate and thank you Jah.

I'll Periscope the burning of my British passport on here live for all to enjoy.

I would go so far as say Scottish independence will happen in two years mate, the ironic thing about all this national fervor is that it has probably copper fastened the end of the United Kingdom.

Without meaning to come across as pedantic, but weren't the tories governing us on those dates, too?

Rates fluctuate, peaks 'n' troughs...It was going to happen in the event of an 'out' vote; we all knew it.

Oh, and there were as many tories wanting to remain as wanted out.
This is one hell of a trough. Let's hope we get out of it.
