Will you be ok with whatever deal we end up with Joe?
Yes I believe in democracy- hate the present government if we had a stronger opposition they would not be in office - They are in office because of democracy, and a weak opposition!
I have always voted Labour, but it needs to get its house in order so what ever democracy throws up it should never be overturned - The EU favours Bankers , and big businesses imo!
We could live better without it trading worldwide!

If England voted leave by 51-49% and Scotland, NI and Wales all voted to remain, we would have remained, with the English vote effectively not counting. Don’t forget many people in Scotland and Ireland voted to leave and also that the people of Wales voted to leave. One person, one vote, regional nationality had nothing to do with it. We currently have parliament effectively controlled by the DUP from NI. It’s not always the large voting blocks carrying the power........

True mate but if three countries Ni, Scot, Wales voted to remain and England voted to leave the other three would be forced to leave, the ifs and but game can be played in any way. In this case 50% of the countries in the UK wanted to remain the other 50% wanted to leave. 50% of the UK countries vote doesn’t matter.

I’m just pointing out the system is undemocratic, which is ironic because that is the stated motivation of some voters for leaving the EU. There are numerous systems that could be implemented to make it domecratic. Each country gets its 25%. Or a majority in each nation is required to pass. The nations of Scotland and NI. Have just been basically ignored, whole nation, the UK presently is an autocratic system with England calling the shots.

Excuse me many times on this thread some posters have been branded racist for voting OUT!

I certainly wouldn’t, but we are all prejudiced to a degree it’s part of being human and we hold assumptions and biases.

That doesn’t mean someone is racist, but they may prefer their community make up or local jobs primarily to be say English as opposed to say Irish or German. That’s not racist but it jingoistic and perhaps prejudiced.

The racism element of the vote is hyperbole imo, of course there is a small minority (I hope) who would be racist. But I think there are prejudices mixed with nationalism as part of the over all make up of some people’s decisions.

Not sure anyone is calling the brexiteers on here racist.

Think they are making the point that some people who voted for brexit are racist.

To me there are categories of brexit voters

- Traditional Conservative voters (you, pete, old blue). Genuine people who believe brexit is the way forth.
- Racists/ Anti immigration etc...
- Anti EU people (possibly Pete and old blue also haha!!) Those who dislike the EU but this could be split in two also and half lumped in with the above Conservative voter.
- People who were fooled by promises. The bus signs, believing the hype by Boris and friends.

...Government defeated on Brexit Bill amendment.

Grieve's performance today was genuinely magnificent, the greatest speech of this Parliament and one of the best in the past twenty years. If they hadn't lied / bribed / threatened and generally whipped their backbenches he probably would have beat them by a hundred votes rather than four.

Both sides told porkies also if that had been a GE first past the post system Out would have won by a biggest Landslide since the Blair days so you're theories are invalid !

Same time as the news brake Junker on trial for alledgedly phone tapping when he was a mayor of Brussels!

.

If that is referring to me, you are f*cking joking!!! I wouldn't feed any of the bastards! I'm a lifelong Labour voter, and always will be.

So what else have you got completely 100% wrong about me...?

How is he controversial? He's articulate and doesn't suffer fools but he gives all kinds of opinions an airing on his show. A great broadcaster.
Ever tried listening to him anyone who disagrees with him he ridicules them pathetically I hit the off button!
The guy on before him give a person a chance that's why he won awards today!
