Baffled me for ages why they have one. A border that is. But happy to concede I know jack about the history.

Again, the U.K. (Gibraltar) were happy without one, Spain put it in to teach us a lesson. Meanwhile thousands of Spanish workers endured disgraceful border holdups on their way to jobs provided in Gib without the EU once getting properly involved.......

oh and Joey, there was a hard customs border between the north and south before the EU. The early 2000's was the first time there was no visible border since partition, because of the GFA, which in some part was made possible by both nations being members of the EU.

We do not wish to belong to the EU. You say you are from Ireland, why did Ireland wish to leave the U.K. ? .....
Haha, oooh
Well...
You could start by googling Penal Laws, then move on to googling 'Cromwell and the Irish' then head on over to 'the great famine, was it avoidable?' then swing by 'plantations and absentee landlords' while being sure to catch a look at 'indentured servitude' and 'cannon fodder'.
Pretty similar reasons all in all :)

Yea, they want a single UK out of the EU with a hard border.
They are the reason your 'free movement between the RoI and NI but not NI and GB' plan won't work.
What next Pete?

I guess we’ll just have to stay in the EU then, although I’m not sure that the DUP want a hard border anywhere tbh......
