I am of Irish descent, the whole of my family came from Ireland, both maternal and paternal, family members were involved with Irish Independence and provided help to De Valera, so I do have some understanding.......

Now take away your hatred of the U.K. and think what is the best for Ireland. The best is that they continue as much like before as possible. The only people who don’t give a damn are based in Brussels for it is they, and they alone who will force the ROI to put in a hard border......

Hatred of the UK? Really i don't hate the UK. Enough with the assumptions.

Bold statement that you have no proof is true nor is it.

You will find people who hate Britain don't support Everton or anything English.

Aslo when you say UK you mean NI, Scotland and Wales why on earth would anyone hate them?

Don't try and twist it to make out i have an issue. You are the one that brought it up and tried to compare brexit with occupied lands and war.

Yes it has been explained a million times and you still don’t get it. The only people who want a hard border are the EU, not the U.K., not Northern Ireland, not Ireland. The EU quite deliberately insisted on ‘sorting out’ the Irish border before discussing trade because they knew it was impossible while they insisted on a hard border. You say that the EU is right to sort out its border between one current and one soon to be ex EU member, while they completely ignore eastern borders and allowed a couple of million people to walk in and walk about the place. This is an EU inspired political argument for the benefit of those who want a USE, it has nothing to do with helping Ireland, Northern Ireland, trade, its people or the peace process. The EU are using Ireland as a proxy to beat the U.K., it’s very simple really........

The UK government have said they are going to control the UK border by having border checks on EU citizens. There is a border between the north of the island of Ireland - in the UK and the south of the Ireland of Ireland in the EU. That means the government were saying there would be border checks on the border between the UK and Ireland checking people i.e controlling EU migrants. That is the only way the UK government can control the flow of EU citizens coming into Ireland and those that move onward to the north of the island i.e the UK. .

Unfortunately, the Good Friday Agreement allows all Irish citizens to reside anywhere on the island of Ireland. In other words, free movement of people who will not have to show a passport to move around the country. Therefore, there cannot be border checks. The government has at long last conceded this, after much stamping of feet and throwing the dummy out of the pram, because the EU and the Ireland PM have pointed this out since Article 50 was signed. The UK government took no notice and that is why the Irish government have wanted a written agreement that there would not be a border to check people and goods.

The Tories are finding it very difficult to understand what the reality is in relation to the island of Ireland. But there again it is not surprising considering that, according to the DUP, the Irish government told May not to show the text of the latest agreement to them.

I felt this required a separate post.

If you do have some knowledge then you know it was not some sort of partnership or alliance as you put it earlier.

Otherwise i would say you have forgotten your roots if that is the cse especially if they actually helped during the times mentioned.

But anyway again continue to push your agenda and try in vein to make people look foolish when it is yourself and your own wild claims that are.

Because we said we will not put up an Irish hard border where none exists at present. If the EU and ROI wishes to put up a border on their side then they are within their rights to do so......

Without a border between the UK - northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland - the EU, EU immigration numbers into the UK i.e northern Ireland, cannot be controlled as promised.

Quite. Strip away the history between the UK/NI/ROI, as far as the EU trading bloc is concerned, it may as well be a border with Greece.

Indeed, but then again 500Million Europeans tend not to go to the ROI or NI in the first place........

Gibraltar (UK) has a border with Spain, I wonder when the EU will raise this again......

Glad you agree with open borders between the UK and the EU, because 500 million Europeans tend not to go to the UK. The UK government and their new heroes in the DUP are floundering up the swanny.
