Transfer Rumour Eliaquim Mangala

He’s not good enough for City so why would he be good enough for us?

He could be fine for us in his primary role

I've no issue with the player himself

My issue is that we're currently playing a right back out of position at left back, so the answer to that is that we're going to loan a centre back to play there instead

Sure, people are saying that Mangala can play at left back, but so what? He's not primarily a left back. If we already had an actual left back then it would be fine to have Managala as cover now and then, but whoever we get is going to have to go straight into the team for a prolonged period of time. In that case, the player simply has to be a left back first and everything else second. Get an ACTUAL left back. A centre back who plays left back on his days off is NOT what we need right now

There's none available apparently, in the whole of world football. Not one.

And even if he has experience as a left back, we should be looking at someone who is primarily a left back

Chris Sutton could play centre back if needed, but you wouldn't sign him specifically for that role would you? Of course not. You'd get an actual centre back

Slightly different with defenders I think,Mikey...Lescott? Holgate? even Stones has played full back on occasions, and that's only recently Everton related players off the top of my head. There are many examples of central defenders/full backs reversing roles successfully. Less examples of 'centre forwards' becoming great centre halves. John Charles comes to mind, not many others at the peak of their career moved back...maybe a few as they got older and slower,or experienced. Wingers move back into defensive positions, Valencia,Young at United, and some others come to mind. Most defenders of quality will make a fist of it anywhere across the back line. Mangaal has not just had the odd game at left back,he's played there quite a lot....in fact his career started at left back.

The relegation mentality is the reason why teams get sucked into it, the fear of losing and worrying about the opposition won’t let you play to your best! Therefore players losing confidence and playing safe passes which get you nowhere.

False

From a fan perspective it's incredibly important. Knowing you're survival is on the line makes you turn your home ground into a bear pit, because you know that it's your best chance of willing the players on

The longer as a fan base you spend thinking "Oh, it'll never happen" the more you transmit that same attitude to the players on the pitch. If you buy in to the very real threat, you create the right atmosphere for the players to get the job done

Arrogance and complacency kill clubs in our positions off

Embarrassing the amount slagging him before he's even played for us. We truly do have the club we deserve at the moment.

This. A left footed defender who can play LB and CB is exactly what we need. He may not have suited Pep Ball, but he did well at Valencia last year and was a very well thought of prospect not too long ago. Hopefully there is a loan to buy option included. If he shows well here I'd love to lock him up long term.

Stop b****ing about a short term loan move for a position of need. I would love a true LB too, but at this point I'll take what I can get. Partner him with Holgate once Baines gets back and we could see something half decent out there.

No he’s not good enough for arguably the best team in the world so he’s not good enough for us! And he’s never even played left back because I’ve watched him on MOTD once and he was playing centre back!!!!1

A left footed central defender who has lots of experience playing at left back too is far better than what we currently have i.e a 3rd choice right footed right back so it will be an improvement regardless of whether he is a Man City reject. He must have been good at some time in the past for City to have signed him. I will be happy if we sign him on loan. Cant make us worse than we already are.
