Transfer Rumour Eliaquim Mangala

I've slated almost every signing we've for about 18 months.

However quite happy with Mangala.

It is a loan deal.
He fills a position that needs filling.
He is left footed
It isn't as though the players he will be replacing are in massively good form either.

I'd rather have him than not and he won't bankrupt us, which is a pretty low bar but that makes him better than most of our recent signings.

The same Sakho who is still a massive issue and that’s why he’s at a team like palace because the ethos is to hoof it clear

Basically, what you’re saying is that our ambition should be palace. Buy players who aren’t good enough for the top teams and employ a manager to keep the happy ship Everton on course for mediocrity

Yaaaaay
Your thinking seems rather muddled. If we have a manager who looks to play hoofball to keep us in the division then you sign players to.suit.Kone at Sunderland,Sakho at Palace,Mangala here.Do you see a pattern emerging. But then only you will actually know with any certainty if Mangala is signing.

My thinking is not muddled

We didn’t need Sam Allardyce

The end

Embarrassing the amount slagging him before he's even played for us. We truly do have the club we deserve at the moment.
Initially I was a little perplexed at this comment considering I hadn't seen all that much in the way of negativity around him.... then I realised that I have a ton of people on ignore. It now makes sense.

Would have no problem with this signing whatsoever. Reality needs to set in for some of you - we're not signing the next Rio Ferdinand any time soon.

He's not the worlds best obviously but he's a clear step up on a finished Jagielka and Williams and adds depth. He's played for top clubs in three countries and isn't in his prime yet; it's the type of signing that was our bread and butter under Moyes.

Think him and holgate could be decent

To keep us in the division we’re 9th!!!!
lol

He's actually pretty good, but whatever, let's just whinge about it. I for one would love nothing more than the end of watching Jagielka and Williams.

A million times yes. Jags and Williams has been on the decline and shouldn’t be starting.

He must surely be signing to play left back. We already have five centre backs on our books (albeit 3 of them woeful).

Coleman - Holgate - Keane - Mangala looks a damn sight better than Kenny - Holgate - Williams - Martina

Mangala is strong and has a good left foot. If all he's asked to do is stop crosses and held us retain possession he'll be a massive step up from Martina.

Very well said, can't get over these moaning arses, our defence is absolute dog turd, this guy can actually kick a ball with his left foot so a step up in what we have...

Short term stop gap, stop bleeding moaning!!!

The point for this, which is relevant is would we take Laporte or Stones in 2 years if they flopped? Of course we would.

Players don't work out at teams, look at Sandro/Klaassen by no means bad players but just not suited.

The fact this is a loan deal first makes a lot of sense. Far more sense than whacking 25 million on Keane (or the money on Klaassen). We cannot think we are above taking outcasts and doing loan deals to see how they fit. I have no issue with the signing, if he's not right we won't buy him, if he can find his Porto form we will have an absolute bargain.

The issue is we are pursuing another centre back and not a left back. They are seperate debates though and that shouldn't take away from Mangala.

More common sense! I would just add that Mangala has considerable experience as a LEFT BACK and this fact adds even more credence to this signing. We gat a left back who can play centre half and a centre half who can play left back....sort of two for the price of one. If Mangala signs, I would say that Sams three signings in this window have been very sensible, but of course the baying rabble on here would think otherwise!
