Transfer Rumour Eliaquim Mangala

What did people expect? Us to sweep in and get Varane or Umtiti? Seriously who would be met with approval by this forum? Is he better than Jags and Williams? Undoubtedly. Therefore what’s the problem?
I am very pleased with us hopefully getting him.

Better at CB than Keane, Jagielka and Williams.

Better at LB than Martina.

He's not brilliant, but he's better than the above, and that's what we need.

Kone looked a more than decent stopper under Allardyce, since he left Sunderland not so much.Mangala won't be expected to play it out from the back,so maybe he just might work out.Going back a few years ago bringing Huth in would have got a similar response.

Completely agree he is also is a tough boy.
first season he joined city he smashed costa everywhere & all costa wanted to do was a jags & shake hands he didn’t want to know he completely overpowered him

Mate, don't underestimate clubs being soft enough to think they are great captains with a wealth of experience at the top level. I expect both players are professional enough to realise they're done here and need to move if they want to play. Hell, we could even subsidise their wages for them to take a step down. Rather lose them and pay them 20k a week to join a Championship team.

Mori imo can come good for us. Obviously you don't become a regular for Argentina if you're as bad as you're suggesting he is.

You should work in marketing my friend!!

Mori - don’t get me wrong, if we could eliminate his brain fart moments I think he’d be a top defender, just not convinced that’ll happen. As for being an Argentinian international... are they a nation renowned for churning out endless top class central defenders? And let’s be honest, it’s one thing playing in there system compared to however it is we’re supposed to be set up to play! Slightly different styles... (more’s the pity).

Think our CB pairing should be Holgate +1. Who that +1 is, well either Keane/Jags/Williams/Mori/Mangala ... I’d probably opt for Mori over Managala but only because of better the devil you know. If someone could give Keane an injection of pure confidence I think we’d see a decent player again, but I think mentally he probably just can’t cut it...

I genuinely don't have a problem with taking him on loan and having a good look at him

My ire is simply that we aren't signing a left back, which was approximately fourteen billion times more important than adding to the five first team central defenders we already have at the club

Is he better than Jags? Williams? Holgate? Injury ravaged Mori?

Also if he is asked to play left back, is he better than Cuco if Baines isn't able to play due to injury?

For me it's a yes. Get him in. It's a position we are short of quality in. He's 26 and if this loan comes off, and we have an agreement to a buying price, then it's about as sensible a deal that I have seen us linked with in the last few days.

Gravy Guzzling Sam is almost complete in getting all our young talents out of the side, our last victory.....the 3-1 victory against swansea, was based on a second half axis of Davies, Lookman, Kenny, Holgate & DCL all combining well, they know each other, they know how each other play, they stuck up and thought for each other.
Our win at Newcastle, Tom Davies wasteing time to fix his alice band, DCL kicking the ball away to receive a booking, Davies & DCL keeeping the ball in the corner, doing what seasoned profesionals should be doing...........we were all lauding them

With Tosun taking DCL's place, Davies seemingly dropped, same with Lookman, only Kenny and Holgate left......Mangala to step in and take Holgates place and Sam rushing Seamus back to get rid of Kenny!!!!!

Allardyce the F*&king Footballing dinosaur

It still would.

Sams doing what sam does...

Not sure the thinking on this move. Yes he is probably better than most centre backs we currently have, but I'm not sure he is a priority.

Unless there is planned change in tactics?
