Transfer Rumour Eliaquim Mangala

Nah I never said he was particularly good himself, just that we do need a centre back. And he's definitely not worse than Jagielka or Williams.

You run at him and he hasn’t a clue and he’s prone to dodgy passes/ losing possession just like our other 4/5 kak Center backs. So let’s add another aye

If he looks crap in a quality side like Shity then what the heck is he going to be in our shitty side?

I posted a few negative tweets about the lad, so for balance there are a fair few like the one above too. Seems he excels against the big physical forwards and more often than not comes out on top.

Let’s just wait and see I suppose.

If you had asked me yesterday who I did want from City, I would reply Hart. If you had asked me who I didn't want from City
I would reply Mangala. I know now who we will get?

Mangala who can’t play out of the back, to add to the rest of the losers who also can’t.

I feel sorry for whoever comes in the summer trying to get 4 passes forward out of them clowns a season

Keane came in with a hefty price and high expectation and has wilted. He was excellent at Burnley.

Mangala would arrive with very little burden on his shoulders and can hopefully thrive here if the deal goes through.

A low risk, high reward deal is what this club has thrived on in the last decade or so.

While I sort of agree with that, I’d still rather the rumour was Mangala was signing for the RS. Seems a better fit.

..he’s very definitely an athlete and we really lack athleticism.

I notice his contract is up next year, not sure what the terms of the loan deal are be but it sounds like Newcastle ‘baulked’ at the loan fee.

I think he's a real defender, if that makes sense, obv pep likes a back 2 pairing akin to Maldini types, not big lumps, alltho like you say Mangala is more athletic than a 'lump'..

big sam turned sakho into the best defender in the league in the 2nd half of last season so theres hope with this fella.

In all fairness the expectation is different there. He's a bit of a grock in a City side who play on the front foot for 90% of their games and by all accounts he isn't quite that type of ball playing defender.

We, first and foremost, need defenders who can defend. Would help if they were reasonably athletic to boot. Mangala does have those qualities, albeit he hasn't hit the heights that he did at Porto, but then he's still only 26. Think he came into City with the pressure of a big fee over his head and hopefully he'll feel like he has a second chance at Everton.

What's become evident with us, more than ever, is that we need midfielders who are actual ballers, particularly in the central positions that Schniederlin & Gueye occupy. Nzonzi would've been a good step in the right direction.
