Edinson Cavani

This rumour is almost as funny as the time when we thought we were getting Mourinho as manager, and then would also get Mata, keep Lukaku, get Hart, get Costa on loan, build a new stadium and bring Rooney back h...oh wait.

We're clearly not doing a Man City or Chelsea and suddenly getting into loads of money, so why would Cavani leave this nouveau-Barcelona front three that he's in. Is there something we don't know? Why would we buy Giroud and Cavani when we have the new Niasse who is obviously now going to win the Ballon d'Or?

The funny thing with this is not so much that we're getting linked to Cavani, but that the types of players we get linked to determine the type of hype and expectations we are building up around the club, or rather what other people are building up. It's all a cruel joke just to set us up to be disappointed, and I'm happier with the transfer policy to bring in young English players to the U23s, to recruit people like DCL, Lookman, Vlasic. What do you think?

I'm starting to think names are just names. Footballers are more unconventional then ever, whoever is boss should play.

The media have a huge part to play in the money names game. That's what inflates the values of players I think.

You're right about the rumours building expectation or the other way round.

The day after the Cavani - Neymar bust up was news, my phones news feed was populated with story after story on Everton (named first) and a few other teams on "red alert" as Cavani announces he wants to leave.

Everton named first, need a striker, and supposedly have money (or credit), everyone else is sorted and probably aren't interested.

Red alert too. Do they know our club at all? It's all a bit putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

Bizarre.

Why all the doubt, can you not read badly translated Italian or something?????

After Diego Costa's failed attempt, Everton is hunting for another level striker. Strong pressing for Edinson Cavani from PSG. In the coming days of a club meeting to understand the feasibility of the deal, Everton is serious. In the viewfinder there is Cavani ..

It's where it all originated I think, you just can't help some people sadly.

Actually, the late Transfer Deadline day approach is true, and did not originate publicly from the Esk.
Nobody will find anything from the Esk in the public domain on deadline day about Cavani.

The Cavani interest only became public about three or four days later and the Esk merely confirmed via Twitter what he'd been advised of late on TD evening, and duly got a torrent abuse.

My understanding is that Everton would like to pursue their interest in Cavani and that the finances are there to make it happen if... if they get any encouragement from either the player or PSG.

Things change, deals are complicated, it was correct at time of reporting etc etc All the usual bollocks.

I actually could see us making a enquiry and even a bid, he fits the profile mate, big name, will get our name in the press as meaning serious business, we have zero chance of even getting in a room with him and will be laughed off majorly, thus no chance of us spending this imaginary money and wages we don't have, perfect Everton transfer target really.

..I thought we had a transfer thread.

Happy birthday mate

Much as I like Esk, I do wonder if sometimes if he should just say nothing. Things like this can't really be fully confirmed or fully denied, I'd just let people think whatever they liked .. and make puns, or eat cheese, or even post cat gifs.
