Yup, clubs that can offer those 70m fees and 300k pw wages don't honestly get jibbed off by the likes of Lucas Perez etc or even Giroud tbf

Hold on lad, you're forgetting we have Steve Walsh at the helm of our Titanic transfer strategy. He can get any player we want.

Judge for yourselves whether it's happening...

By all accounts Giroud didn't sign for personal reasons so I doubt that was down to cash, I've no idea about Perez tbh.

Put the striker situation to one side though, they're a fairly rare species so it's possible we couldn't get a decent one to come here, but if we had 60 million in our back pocket I find it completely ludicrous that we couldn't find one footballer to sign who could cover for both Baines and Williams while Mori's crocked. Not one ?

I know it's most unlikely we will sign Cavani,

But just think if he wants to come to the Premier League which other club would he go to and be first choice striker?

Arsenal - Lacazette

Spurs - Kane

Man Utd - Lukaku

Man City - Aguero

Chelsea - Morata

Liverpool - Firminio

He may go to Spain or Italy. But if he decides he wants to try England where else would he go, if we really do have the money then we should at least try for him. It's about time we showed ambition and go for these types of players wether we get them or not.

Could name about a dozen who'd improve on what we have without even trying, and none would cost that much either in relative terms, all things suggest we had a VERY limited amount in terms of either transfer fees available or wages or a combination of both most likely.

Barkley not being sold cost us a 30-35m hole in those figures, maybe McCarthy, Mori injuries further reduced the amount we thought we'd have to spend as well and ofc Niasse deal falling through is another 10m lost out on.

Yea, depending on what figures you use, we had a net spend of probably 45 +/- 5 million, with a resulting increase in the wage bill.

Based on a combination of waving a wet finger in the air ( which is a tried and trusted technique ) and some relatively simple maths, I suspect the Barkley deal falling through cost us a decent striker.

We're talking about a player who scored 49 goals last season. I'm sure Liverpool and Arsenal at the very least would make space for the guy!

No offence mate, but Cavani currently earns 120k pw after tax on his current contract at PSG, assuming for a second he'd want roughly a 25% increase to move to a much lower down club - and to offset an obvious reduction in such things as goal bonus, bonuses for winning things and other such things he'd have in his contract at PSG, that would bring the salary we'd have to offer him (assuming a modest increase to 150k pw after tax) of around 290k pw we would have to offer the player.

You truly think the finances are there to make that happen if the player give us the green light, i for one think there's not a chance in hell we have remotely the ability to offer anything near those figures.

Unless you mean that the finances are in place should the player give us the encouragement that he is willing to take a large pay cut to move to Everton.

@The Esk is very very keen on challenging all things financial at the club, yet he very rarely / never at all challenges the spending power of the club over such matters, which all evidence suggests something such as this is laughably out of our ability and spending power

I have made an enquiry about having Jennifer Lawrence as my bit on the side, should she give me any encouragement on the enquiry - which demands she's happy with paying for everything on top of casting me in all her future movies and is ok with an occasional romp every other Sunday, then i will move forward with the deal.

This is obvious bollocks
