TROUBLE IN PARADISE? OH, DEAR...:D

Brendan Rodgers admitted his disappointment in his Liverpool side on a night when the controversial side of Mario Balotelli again surfaced.

The Reds lost 1-0 to Basel in Switzerland, leaving them with an uphill task to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

The Italian striker cut an increasingly frustrated figure, and he risked a red card when raising a hand to the face of an opponent, before being castigated by Rodgers at the end for failing to go to the travelling Reds support, and show his appreciation.

Rodgers said: “I’m not sure if he went back out to say thanks to the fans because I came straight here.

“But I was speaking to one or two of the players to make sure they did that – it’s important, our supporters have travelled a long way and that is why it’s important they acknowledge the support, and what they have put in to get here.”

hahaha LOVING the blatant hypocrisy there...

They will definitely beat Real Madrid based on the fact that they are the underdogs ? Of course if the RS were any good..

They will definitely beat Real Madrid based on the fact that they are the better team ?.......

i havent met one liverpool fan this season who is happy to admit gerrard is nothing like he used to be and should be dropped. It is because he is slippy g and therefore bullet proof and an instant starter.
I've met quite a few to be honest! Just they're not swivel eyed loonies who frequent Rawk or other Melt Pits.

In that case Liverpool probably only have to beat Ludogorets and Basle at home 1-0 to qualify. If Madrid beat everyone, and lets assume (although a stretch) that everyone beats Ludogorets home and away. Liverpool would probably have the better goal difference considering Basle got spanked 4-1 by Madrid, meaning they could lose to Madrid twice, scrape past Ludogorets away and only have to spawn a single goal win at home. Champions league can be a joke, enter tournament lose a load of games, still end up winning it. Massive assumptions I know but i wouldn't count Liverpool out of weaseling out the group yet.

who's to say Madrid won't knock up up a six goal shellacking over the RS over the course of the two games and Basle knock up a three or four goal overall beating of the other team?

In which case the RS would need to be winning by two clear goals against Basle as the goal difference would be turned around.

Looking at the table now and in light of them having to play Madrid in the next two games, I don't make them favourite to qualify from that group.
