What would you have liked him to say?

"I apologise unreservedly to all the fans. We had a great season last year and expected to push on this season. However, because of (certain members of the squad causing disruption / we bought into our own hype / tactics weren't good enough / whatever reason) we didn't get anywhere near to achieving our goals. We're really hurt and, more importantly, so are the fans. We absolutely understand the amount of support we get from them and can never apologise enough for such a pathetic season, but we'll try to start making it right by aiming to win every game from this point onwards until the end of the season. Then, once the summer comes around, Martinez will make some good additions to our squad and our goal will be to qualify for the Champions League. We'll have our heads set firmly on doing just that and we will be giving it 100%. We will finish in the top four."

I'd like it if he said that.

Martinez has the good grace (unlike the likes of Van Gall) not to criticise individual players in public. Who knows what he thinks privately and expresses in the dressing room.
you are not wrong mate. I have a policy not to listen to a thing Booby says publicly; it's just all gumpf, meaningless regurgitated sound bites and clichés. What he really thinks privately and expresses in the dressing room is broadcast by his team's performances on the field. Ergo, I suspect Booby also talks a load of gumpf in the dressing room, because garbage is what Everton has mostly been playing this season. In my opinion, he's a snake oil salesman.

Well that's down to misfortune, surely, rather than ineptness from Coleman? It was the guy who didn't defend the cross, Alcaraz in one or two of those incidents, that allowed the ball to bounce off Coleman. It's a bit like the two that hit the woodwork from Barkley: on another occasion things could have been very different. Which isn't to say that Kiev weren't the better side on the night. Coleman hasn't perhaps had his best season but i still rate him highly and think that he did some good work down the flank.
perhaps?...lol

What do you think he said in the dressing room last season?

And what do you think has changed?

I genuinely think he inherited a squad that had some mettle and defence tactics drilled into them (a la Moyes). He then on transfer deadline got Lukaku and Barry (both loanees and both wanting to make an impression). Barkley had a good run etc etc ...in a way, a lot of 'good forces' merged for Martinez last season (which we still bottled in the end by the way).
This year he's been found out. Don't believe me? I refer you to our Capital and FA Cup results and our League position/results. Disastrous. Not only that, there's the curious case of Eto'o ...and Distin and Mirallas. Martinez is a fraud imo mate. Some members of the squad have realised this too. He talks a phenomenal game...but he's just a bullshitter

I'm trying to remember the 1st game and wonder if they had great pace up front. I remember mbokani was a big unit strong in the air and the polish fella they played up front at home was good in the air also. Just makes me wonder why we were defending so deep, leaving acres between our midfield and defenders when they had very little pace up front to get behind us. Push the back four up 25yds and we press higher engage them quicker and half the balls into our box wouldn't have happened.

Dynamo face UEFA charges

Dynamo Kiev face disciplinary proceedings after their fans were accused of racist behaviour during the Europa League second leg against Everton at the Olympic Stadium on Thursday

However the victory was followed by allegations which will be dealt with by UEFA's control, ethics and disciplinary body on March 26.

UEFA said in a statement on its website that Dynamo face separate charges relating to racist behaviour, setting off of fireworks and insufficient organisation - defined as allowing stairways to be blocked.

They have got to close the ground for there next game

Well, time will tell. Personally, I like the guy, and his positive take on whatever the outcome. Moyes' kick and rush style bored me silly. Are results more important than performance style? Up to a point, i guess so. After that, i prefer to watch a team that is prepared to take a few chances; i like my football full of passion rather than negated by a mindset that is focussed on grinding out results. Imo Mr Martinez has until Christmas to turn things around. Personally, I think he will. Time will tell. Now here, imo, is a snake oil salesman..... http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/mar/21/grant-shapps-dean-archer-legal-action-michael-green

I don't think we've been entertaining to watch this year.

Certainly we were about 90 times better to watch in Moyes last season than we are now.

.....yep, rate Coleman too but I am really concerned he isn't being coached defensively. I'm not blaming him for the goals, I'm blaming the fact that we have a back four not working as a unit. We will be bacck to the walls at times but we should be cohesive and controlled.

fair enough mate. But I would take issue with your 'we're more entertaining to watch' angle. I think we've been turgid...aimless tippy tappy turd-like.
But modus vivendi I guess

But he introduced completely new tactics for the defence last season. He played two new players - Barry and McCarthy - as defensive midfielders. Then, when the fullbacks went forward, Barry (or sometimes McCarthy) would drop back with Jagielka and Distin. And Coleman had a much greater share of the attacking duties and came on enormously last season.

I don't think these tactics relied on Moyes's heritage. Not many fans complained last season, it was like a breath of fresh air.

And I don't think that the cup results support your case. Roberto knew that the Europa League would impose a heavy burden on them. At Swansea in the League Cup, he played a weakened team the week before the Europa League started.

The FA Cup produced a good reaction in the first game, while the replay at West Ham was probably the best performance of the season. With ten men, they went from losing 1-0 to winning 2-1, only to lose 9-8 on penalties when Robles failed to score.

Unfortunately, the team hasn't built on last season. You think that he has been found out this season. Exactly how do you think that he has been found out?

Not been back long thanks to Lufthansa, great trip apart from the 90 minutes watching the match.Nea reading the other 198 pages is anyone still defending Martinez ?.
Martinez might have got a few things wrong 2 days ago but lets not forget that the players were utter shambolic.

Lets also not forget that these players selected on Thursday were international players who have played numerous times for their country. The players have a lot to answer for too. They've had a lot to answer for for many a month now.

The team has been found out in that, the entire Prem has found us out. Prem managers such as Fat Sam have even said those words, that we've been found out.

Teams know how we're going to play, more than our own team knows how they're going to play!
