“It is difficult to get rid of the emotions we felt after Thursday night,” he admitted. “We all carry the confidence that a victory gives you but, in the same way, you feel damaged by a defeat. On top of that we were knocked out of Europe after all the desire and effort that we had put in.
“Against Dynamo we were touching a dream – and that dream got shattered. Emotionally you get the effects of that.
“But now it is about making sure we turn around for the game on Sunday as quick as we can. The next three points after the win over Newcastle have become extra significant and without European competition, we need to make sure we are fully prepared for every game remaining in the league.”
Last weekend's 3-0 victory over Newcastle saw Everton produce one of their best performances of the campaign to date and Martinez believes his players may need to produce a similar performance in west London.
He added: “We have accumulated enough experience after playing 10 games in Europe to know what is needed and how we can cope within the squad.
“I expect a really difficult game. QPR, at home, have found a way of playing that is effective.
"They have four games left to play at Loftus Road, which will all be big finals for them.
“But the lesson we need to learn from the Dynamo game is to not get affected by the environment and what is around us, and perform as well as we can.”
