Reports that more than half the people arrested after riots in Portland, were either not registered to vote or hadn't bothered to. sound cant be arsed voting but will trash the place when people who did don't vote the way I wanted.
Not sure the point you are trying to make?
Partly, not mostly. And a significant part of the so-called anti-estasblishment vote in the USA is the racist vote, the Pro-Life vote, the "blame-the-immigrants" vote. Demagogue stuff.
A bit like Bob Geldof then heylolReports that more than half the people arrested after riots in Portland, were either not registered to vote or hadn't bothered to. sound cant be arsed voting but will trash the place when people who did don't vote the way I wanted.
You've been laying into Trump-voting white people as if they've done something uniquely terrible, yet I demonstrated Trump has largely got the same voters as previous Republican candidates.
So essentially you're an anti-Republican tribalist who is playing the race card in an attempt to denigrate the winning side.
Hillary lost because many neutrals in swing States didn't vote for her: instead abstaining or going independent. This is where your querying mind should be, not railing at the traditionalist red vote.
If the traditionalist Republican vote is the 'racist vote', then it's always been that way. Nothing unique to Trump. They also voted Bush Jr...twice. Hardly anti-establishment.
Also of note: Trump got 20% of the non-white vote, better or on par with previous red candidates.
Perhaps we could argue the actual anti-establishment vote was demonstrated by the abstainers & independents, for they 'swung' the election.
i think republicans didnt abandon trump the way the media/pollsters etc thought they would, there was felling evangelical, white women etc would abandon him because of what he said, i but i guess their hatred of hillary and just wanting to get the democrats out was the bigger draw
it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the president was already a republican...
good point, neil...so the sentiment from some Hillary voters is more anti-white because the traditional red vote didn't give Trump up in light of his campaign and Breitbart connection.
That's a fair comment, if this is where @ilikecheese is coming from then I get it, tho' don't fully agree.
Were Democrat voters less miffed and fearful than now back when Bush Jr won against Gore after 8 years of Clinton?
Seemingly every other post in this thread has been reported.
Play nice please folks.
You can argue a point without being hostile to others. It is possible.

Were they the same voters? Or were they folks that have sat on the sidelines in recent elections? Were their motivations the same as in the past?
For example (and votes are still being counted mind), in Pennsylvania there has been a nearly 4% increase in voters in a state whose population has grown by less than 1% since 2010. In Michigan there has been an increase in votes by over a percent with a population that has grown by .4%. The same is true in Florida where so far 11.1% more people voted where their population has grown by 7.8%.
For me, not rejecting alt-right ideas, is worthy of criticism. It is taking this country backwards.
Which alt right ideas?
