I only really see what's posted on here, but it's not particularly nice to see.

I work with a guy who is totally brainwashed. He asked out loud what kind of person does what happened in El Paso. I said it was a right wing nut job with an anti-latino agenda.

His immediate response was a 15 minute wall of words and a whataboutism about how antifa should be considered a terrorist organization.

He asked the question...he doesn't care about the answer. Once he finished with his wall of words, and was confronted with the facts again, he said it was a crazy guy acting on his own.

That rationalization is textbook Fox News.

I recently worked with someone who lived in LA for the last 10 years, and it didn’t occur to me before, but he was talking about the underlying fear of anyone having a gun at any given moment in public.

Living in a place where guns are a novelty and never in public it actually scared me a little. I would reconsider going to America now I think about it.

Just saw this and it made me think ugliness out there:

How do you combat something that genuinely believes that they're doing the right thing?

How do you undo all the delusions and BS?!?

We can only hope that Trump gets beat in 2020, and whoever the next president is; they have a logical and effective approach to undo all of his BS and get things back on track.

I'll give him one thing though - he's sort of right on one thing. And that's the election of Trump in 2020, if it happens, will be down to largely one thing - the disgust of the average person at the constant outrage culture, generally perpetuated by the left.

This is a big reason as to why Trump has been allowed to flourish. Yes, we should all be outraged at things like Sandy Hook - but when the Twitterati are equally as outraged at substantially more minor things, all the bloody time, then outrage completely loses its' value.

Elections are won and lost on swing voters - those on the middle ground who can go either way. What's happened in the last decade is that the middle ground has shrunk and people have become camped into extremes, feeling forced that way because of how loud the opposing voices are. You either have an extreme view on everything or you're drowned out by the noise.

Whether it's Brexit or Trump, the left has to take as much responsibility as the right for the world we're currently in. While TX Bill is a bell, there really is a kernel of truth in what he's saying, despite the fact he revels in the fact Trump is benefiting from a world gone wrong.
This is not going to be a popular opinion, but from my vantage point, there is a lot of truth to this. When "the left" fights to the death over gray issues and is judge and jury on all matters without allowing debate, this is what makes the more "normal" moderate/right leaner run to the opposite of that. We can all say, well yeah but look at [how crazy Trump is][how hypocritical literally anything that comes out of this Republican's mouth is][etc, etc, etc] but what I put in bold really turns a lot of people off, and we need to rise above this outrage culture. It's simply not beneficial.

But Fox News right wingers live in a state of outrage 24-7-365. It's what fuels them.
