I’d be curious to hear your concrete examples of "not allowing debate" - because it seems to me that people (and particularly “the right” - who are far more consistently outraged over unimportant issues than “the left” are) are pretty much able to say what they like and have plenty of platforms to do so - probably more than at any time in history. This is not going to be a popular opinion, but from my vantage point, there is a lot of truth to this. When "the left" fights to the death over gray issues and is judge and jury on all matters without allowing debate, this is what makes the more "normal" moderate/right leaner run to the opposite of that. We can all say, well yeah but look at [how crazy Trump is][how hypocritical literally anything that comes out of this Republican's mouth is][etc, etc, etc] but what I put in bold really turns a lot of people off, and we need to rise above this outrage culture. It's simply not beneficial.
I was more referring to the Twitterati that Tubey cited. Certainly the Fox News crowd spews nonsense constantly, but it would be disingenuous to say that the "Left" doesn't do a lot of the same thing on Twitter/facebook, etc. Since the GOP has proven above and beyond in the Trump era that they are vile, spineless cowards that are trying to take us back to the 50s, my true ire is aimed at them. But it doesn't make "the left" any less annoying on certain issues, and this is what keeps any fence sitters, if there are any of them left, to not come running to the left and away from the rightI’d be curious to hear your concrete examples of "not allowing debate" - because it seems to me that people (and particularly “the right” - who are far more constantly outraged over unimportant issues than “the left” are) are pretty much able to say what they like and have plenty of platforms to do so - probably more than at any time in history.
What people really seem to mean when they complain that they’re being “silenced” is really that they’re not allowed to spout whatever nonsense they want without being challenged. Freedom of speech (even if we extend it to the likes of privately owned and operated social media sites, which as we know is not what the first amendment is really about) is not the same as freedom of that speech from scrutiny.
So no actual examples then?I was more referring to the Twitterati that Tubey cited. There is no debating these folks. That is correct. There is no debating with folks that truly believe things like this. They have a different reality

Most recently Mario Lopez questioning whether a 3 year old child knows about his/her sexual orientation/gender is yet.Twitter burned him at the stake, when by any measure someone may sit back and go, well I mean, that's not altogether an insane question, and perhaps you aren't a bigot if you simply posit that question. So no actual examples then?
Through what medium is the left dominating issues and forestalling debate? They have no TV or radio presence of note, and the actual leftist press doesn't boast readership comparable to that of its rightwing counterpart. Are you talking about people on Twitter and the students at a number of the more elite colleges and universities bossing around Fox News, the Sinclair broadcast group, the conservative blogosphere, and thirty-plus years of rightwing talk radio? This is not going to be a popular opinion, but from my vantage point, there is a lot of truth to this. Ok - so no one stopped him from saying what he said then? Most recently Mario Lopez questioning whether a 3 year old child knows about his/her sexual orientation/gender is yet.Twitter burned him at the stake, when by any measure someone may sit back and go, well I mean, that's not altogether an insane question, and perhaps you aren't a bigot if you simply posit that question.
I can think of others but this just happened so it's what I first thought of
It’s twitter. It has no actual bearing on the real worldMost recently Mario Lopez questioning whether a 3 year old child knows about his/her sexual orientation/gender is yet.Twitter burned him at the stake, when by any measure someone may sit back and go, well I mean, that's not altogether an insane question, and perhaps you aren't a bigot if you simply posit that question.

It's a place full of attention seeking idiots and bigotsIt’s twitter. It has no actual bearing on the real world

I dunno. I see phrases like ‘twitter went into meltdown’ etc etc. Even reputable news organisations say it. It means nothing. Just a load of wannabe big shots talking guff. Its idiocy on steroidsI am gonna have to disagree on this. When Trump uses Twitter on a daily basis to divide this country, I do believe Twitter has actual bearing on the real world.
I vehemently disagree with this. It’s twitter. It has no actual bearing on the real world
Not my point. At allOk - so no one stopped him from saying what he said then?
Again - freedom of speech is not freedom from scrutiny.
