Donald Trump for President Thread

London has far and away the most migrants per head of population in the country, followed by other university towns. All voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU, with most inner-London boroughs voting around 70/30 in favour. Likewise, most of the cities in American with the highest proportion of foreign born citizens residing in them voted Democrat.

This isn't those who have exposure to immigrants that are complaining about them but those that don't have exposure to them, so yes, the racist allegation seems perfectly justified to me. It's hard to say how a candidate that called Mexicans rapists and wants to ban Muslims as anything but racist, and that's before you even get onto his misogyny.

We shouldn't confuse basic decency with political correctness.

its fear that's been created by the press in my opinion. As you say blaming rape on immigrants is pretty racist.

Just a side thought here for all the fear mongering people who think trump will do x y and z.

The republicans didn't really back him did they? SO what is to say that they won't back him going forward either? So any crazy or unrealistic policies can be stopped before even becoming reality, starting with building a wall.......

Perhaps donald trump will just go down as the most ineffective president in history, the one who did nothing of any note during his 4 years.

Whatever way you look at it, it's a great victory for the republicans and a clean sweep of control for them.

Trump deserves the credit and I bet a few who turned on him during the campaign will come crawling back.

Did he win by being a politician, no he didn't. This is now the generation of reality TV.

I don't see how it can be as large chunks of the party disowned the man. Politics being politics I'm sure they'll crawl back now they've got power but I'm not sure this is a good day for anyone.

on the other hand, the fact that he owes none of them (well, Jeff Sessions) anything whatsoever gives him an unprecedented freedom. he is unbeholden. his supporters are deliriously happy, and they voted for him partly because they're fed up with the Republican Party. and a congressman who makes decisions that reads as "establishment" in this climate with primaries always on the horizon is brave indeed

it depends on how seriously he takes the job. but as they say, power corrupts... and this is already an exceptional corrupt man to begin with

You've demonstrated my point quite well here. Anyone that dares to stick their head above the parapet and declare "I'm not convinced we should be letting millions of poorly screened migrants in" instantly gets called a racist, as you've just purported to. People are fed up of being called racist whilst trying to be reasonable Bruce.

Immigration is great in many ways, but when done as poorly and haphazardly as it has been in Germany and Sweden, evidence suggests its not great.

He's changed politics forever, at times it was like watching Big Brother when they debated.

We have a new generation of politics now for the reality TV generation

Fair points. If nothing else then even a smallest part of him will serve his own interests so he is better off when he leaves the job.

Because i don't think even he plans to run for another 4 years!
