Donald Trump for President Thread

on the other hand, the fact that he owes none of them (well, Jeff Sessions) anything whatsoever gives him an unprecedented freedom. he is unbeholden. his supporters are deliriously happy, and they voted for him partly because they're fed up with the Republican Party. and a congressman who makes decisions that reads as "establishment" in this climate with primaries always on the horizon is brave indeed

it depends on how seriously he takes the job. but as they say, power corrupts... and this is already an exceptional corrupt man to begin with[/B]
Obama's policies were repeatedly stymied by Congress. They're not going to just rubber stamp Trump's every excessive demand. But I do fear for the rights of women, minorities, the disabled and disadvantaged though... the consequences of their 'protest' vote could be absolutely brutal for some.

That statement suggests that there is something to be afraid of in other people by virtue of nothing more than they weren't born wherever you were born. We're all equal, just some are more equal than others...

So yes, I will call out people who feel the need to judge those for whom they have no knowledge whatsoever on the basis of their nationality, race, gender or creed.

I think @CahillsCornerFlag was just pointing out that, based on the evidence of what is happening in places such as Germany or Sweden at the moment, then allowing poorly screened migrants from the most turbulent area of the planet to come in in such numbers may not be the best or safest way forward.

He's not just making a sweeping statement. He's basing his opinion on what is happening...

Your point was perfectly valid. The cities, almost universally, voted Dem. And they are the areas with the most diverse voters.

So the people afraid of diversity are actually those with no experience of it.

And I agree with you here as well - I will add that a lack of education and financial disparity are the underlying cause for the racist decisions made both on this and that side of the pond. And I will indeed call Brexit and Trump decisions what they are - fueled by racism, scapegoating problems on an invisible issue. It needs to be called out, even in an era where doing so makes you a minority voice.

Good morning. Funny isn't it?

But both will now go away. Sanders won't run again, doubtful Clinton will, and the party nominations are determined by the consensus amongst the party voters.

there is a core party elite who backed Clinton, long before the campaign even began. as the Podesta emails show, they see Sanders as anathema, like the old professor who only shows up on campus for the wine and cheeses, mumbles a bit about marxism, belches, wraps the remaining cheese in a napkin which he puts in his elbow-patched jacket, and leaves. they will fight tooth and nail to prevent sanders voters - likely now rallying around Elizabeth Warren - from controling the party.

and many Sanders voters loathed hillary and thought she was a terrible candidate for the similar (if i daresay vastly more articulate) reasons than the DRAIN THE SWAMP brigade on here. they didn't trust her to deliver anything should she have won. they will blame the elites for the loss and fight tooth and nail to keep them from imposing another similar candidate to try to win over elite republicans already alienated or suffering buyers' remorse.

Simply put, the democrats themselves will determine their next candidate.

this is a tautology. yes, it is literally correct, but getting there could be brutal and divisive.

I find it incredible that you think adequate screening for people is tantamount to racism. The fact you seem happy to ignore the terror attacks in Europe throughout the last year, and would blindly allow extremists into the country is worrying. I would fully expect to be screened if I went to live in another country, this is no different.

Indeed mate, genuinely just trying to take a reasonable position given the evidence. If that's racist to some then so be it.

Hopefully the world is now free of anything Hillary...forever. Just go away.

I am all for a female President, but she was the least worthy of any woman on the planet to justify that piece in history. Michelle Obama in 4 years? She has my vote.

Thank you Donald. President Donald that is

You're talking about worthiness to be president and suggesting support for Trump and Michelle Obama.

They're at polar opposites of the spectrum - do you know what you actually want?

Yes, I appreciate that factor, and it certainly hasn't helped that Clinton is a far from attractive candidate, but you can bet your bottom dollar that her gender had played a huge part.

I've already seen this particular brand of thinking surface on my Facebook page. If this is going to continue to be the established line among the left-thinking, then I despair. People just cover their eyes and ears to anyone with a different opinion now. Instead of trying to win over those who are on the fence, it's become the norm to dismiss tens of millions of people as racists and bigots and win social media credits.

A lot of people who voted Obama the last time around voted Trump this time around. So they're misogynists but not racists now all of a sudden? Come on like
