So who is doing the talks with Ba if Moyes is going on a 2 week Holiday today or is moyes taking Ba with him :P

Managers don't tend to conduct the negotiations themselves.

And 'talks' is a catchall for a conversation between the player's agent and whoever the allocated deal maker is at the football club, there's only usually a face-to-face to sign the contract/have a medical.

Watched West Ham quite a bit last year (wife and father in law are fans!), if we can get him on the cheap as suggested I think he could be a great addition. Strong, quick and knows where the net is!

Waiting for LCAB update with some excitement.

He said this VVVVV in he's transfer rumor thread.

We are in talks with Demba Ba ...

Carry on ...

Ive seen a fair bit of the lad and i like him, full tilt i think he has about 15 goals a season in him. A big lump a lad, he can run with the ball and knows how to hit the onion bag. Strikes me as a bit of a ted would be my only concern. On budget hes as good as we could have hoped for.

I agree. He ticks all the boxes stylistically, and he appears well suited to the PL going by his 7 goals in 12 appearances for WHU. He's only just turned twenty six as well, so hopefully he'll enjoy his peak years here if he does sign.

That knee injury of his that kept him from signing for Stoke has to be a worry, but by all accounts we're getting him for a song.

Didn't expect us to even get close to signing a decent player in the first week of June. This is exciting stuff.

LCAB/THT reckon we are taking over the deal with Hoffeinheim, which was a pay as you play deal - eventually riseing to 6 mill if hes injury fee.

He looked very composed in his short time with West Ham. Injuries are a concern obviously, and should be reflected in the transfer fee.

Ba is like a ton of other players: a good player who can help us at a position of need, but only if the price is right. I have faith in Moyes that he will only acquire Ba at the right price. He seems to have no history of overpaying players. Of course, some players have not panned out, but these players were purchased at a fair price for what they were expected to bring to the table.

Just had a look at a Youtube compilation of all of his goals for West Ham since January. His goals tend either to be headers that he was well placed to meet or the result of him being first to a loose ball in a crowded penalty area.

If those seven goals are typical of his usual style (and they might not be like) then he looks like quite the poacher.

Jib the AFCON off though Demba La.

That's exactly what the side needed this term. Beckford and Saha could score absolutely sublime goals, but when real quality chances came about, they would fail miserably. I don't care how we score as long as we do...and in bunches as well

Amen to that

Sounds good. He's proved himself to be a real goal threat. If the deal minimises us losing out because of his injury record, then it makes sense to me. I'd be up for taking Obinna on a free too.
