December fixtures, 21 points going

I'd expect them to gradually pull away from us now unless we gain some points back that we've lost recently. To keep up with them over December, we'd need to get a shock win vs City or Spurs, and get 4 from Brighton and Burnley.

In the last month they were a flukey last min goal away from drawing with Bournemouth, Southampton and Palace, they're in no better form than us.

I agree but clubs like them seem to find a way to get those flukey last min wins against Bournemouth away that we don't get. They didn't even deserve to beat us but the table doesn't account for that, and we have some tough fixtures coming up.

I'm hoping we unexpectedly beat Spurs. It's about time we got a win against a top side again and can't see it coming against Man City.

Realistically the way we are playing I can only see 3-4 points from the next four games, with a win at Burnley and a possible draw at Brighton as we have only won 1 away game up to now. Cant see us taking anything from City or the Spurs game.

Supporting the Toffee's is excellent preparation for life itself.

Brief moments of expectation-anticipation, dashed by reality.

However many points we get over Christmas is irrelevant. If we won all the games then the instant euphoria would come crashing down next time we lost to or drew with a team that we should be expected to beat.

Bottom line is that we have talent but are weak mentally and until we can start believing in ourselves and trusting each other then we are always going to be chasing the title of 'best of the rest.'

If we miss out on Europe this season, it won't be because of dropped points at Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea and Spurs, it will be because we failed against Huddersfield, Watford, West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth and Newcastle - all games we should have won. We could, and should be 13 points better off than we actually are and that is what condemns us to mid table mediocrity - yet again!

I think we'll drop to about 13th on the table, which will then relieve any pressure on our lads and we can push back up to challenge for the 7th-10th spot...
In short, Everton's performance is negatively correlated to pressure: high pressure = low performance... and vice versa.
The pressure of being in the top 6 placed waaaay too much pressure on our lads.
