I think that's fair. The thing is we haven't been beating the teams that we "should" beat for the last few years, which is why we've struggled. That hasn't really changed either as our home record is appalling. I would settle for 14 home wins and 4 or 5 away wins and then losing to the top 4 or 5 home and away, but I don't see that happening. Football has moved on and Moyes hasn't.

Despite what anyone thinks about his first eleven years here, yes there was a ceiling which was part down to his safety first attitude, but also down to the fact that the charlatan Kenwright had us run like a corner shop. There was no money to buy anything.

If it weren’t for Moyes during some of those years we would likely been relegated, so to equate supporters of Moyes with Kenwright / 27 years is completely daft or disengenuous. And I’m pretty much on the fence about Moyes as I can see both sides of the argument.

I suppose that is true, it is the Moyes thread and to be on topic that would be the case.

The comment you made, that you can take derby losses but not under a specific manager is, in my humble opinion, a strange way to support the club itself. I don't support the manager, I support Everton. The level of frustration/anger is dependent on the performance on the day, not who is in charge.

Would you say that if we had 20 shots on target, their keeper had an absolute worldy of a game, they scored from their only 2 shots on goal, you would still be saying what you are saying, in the manner you are saying it. The way you have been towards Moyes, I would maybe say it is a yes.

On Saturday, it was 2 fairly even teams and a draw was a fair result. People go on about the worst Liverpool team, etc. Yes, the players may not have been worth the money and the manager is not the best, but there are still some very good players in that Liverpool team. We are not better than them, as a squad. As a team we are probably around about par, they have a couple more proper match winners. To say that after the distance between us for the last few seasons is a nice thing to say, and a credit to Moyes.

I agree Moyes has improved us, but we’re not going to get any better now.
Other teams ( not the big6) have won trophies whilst we stay mid table mediocre with him.

He lacks the inventiveness to get results in key games and therefore we always fall short.

Some people are happy to settle for that - clap on.

I then look at what Joe Royle did with his team, had the grit to win a trophy, get the players to perform when needed. I don’t see Moyes ever doing that I’m afraid and he’s had long enough to do it.

Football has moved on so much since Moyes 1st spell in charge, but has his tactics moved on?

we are halfway in a poor league also a point off 6th place, even Sunderland have a chance of europe and they have just come up.

we have been awful for most of the season at home and still a chance of europe, so like I say it is a poor league and we were 1 last min screamer from Tarkowski from 3 derby defeats on the bounce since he has been back so is he really moved on in footballing terms?

It just deflated and it was a sort of 'Here we go again' attitude. We came out in the second half and competed again, so something good was said at half time.

In hindsight, it would not have been a like for like when Beto came off. As Barry ambling around just nullified any chance of getting it forward and keeping possession.

If he gets another contract, then hopefully he gets enough wins to finish high up in the table, that is the only thing that truly matters, when stepping back and reviewing a season in May. It would be a shame that we didn't win the derbies, but that will be it, a shame but not a reason to sack him.

Not when you're failing to achieve anything in a season. If we were winning cups or getting into the CL then the derby defeats would take on the context you imply.

But we're not and the derbies are there to measure any Everton manager.
