2025/26 David Moyes

If you look at our record since 1995, it's terrible. The earky 90s were the last time we consistently got results against them.

"Since the start of 1995, the Merseyside derby has been overwhelmingly dominated by Liverpool. In the roughly 31 years since then, Everton have managed only 9 victories in all competitive competitions.

The overall record since January 1995 across the Premier League and FA Cup is:

  • Everton Wins: 9
  • Draws: 27
  • Liverpool Wins: 29"
Not really, this pre-dates Moyes. I know some will say he was in situ fur a long period, but it's something that transcends managers and has become so ingrained in the clubs psycho it's hard to shift.
Apart from a few years in the 60s and 80s, we've been a pretty average footy club for a century.

Ducks for cover*

Ask the same thing about our record vs utd etc from 1995. It's all poor.

I do think Moyes has wasted opportunities in some games, but I think laying our malaise solely at his door is mad.
I don’t disagree with the overall record but our home record under Moyes is worse than anything in the previous 55 years and that’s hard to defend.

We’ve lost 18 games to Liverpool at Goodison since 1970 and 8 of those losses came in one decade that he was manager. His total losses at home to them is equal to all those games we lost over the 70’s and 80’s when their side was much stronger.
Catterick,Bingham,Lee in the 70’s.
Kendall,Harvey in the 80’s.
Kendall,Walker,Royle,Kendall,Smith in the 90’s.
Martinez and Koeman in the 20teens.
Allardyce,Benitez,Lampard and Dyche in
2020s.

All of those decades had a better home performance than his first decade in charge.

Joe Royle wasnt good enough ????

Get in the bin lad.

he let Anders Limpar and Barry Horne leave a season too early and when we had those terrible injuries the team plummeted after a promising first half of his last season , it wasnt helped by some terrible signings like Marc Hottiger and Claus Thomsen and not replacing Andrei Kanchelskis.

Throw in the dodgy boardroom and it was a sad end to his managerial time here. The crowd turned the day we lost to Bradford in the cup, horrible game that. Felt bad for him because he had done some great things including winning a trophy.

I'd sooner focus on the good points he brought .
He took over a Mike Walker side bereft of everything.
That 1st Derby at Goodison was a huge stand out moment for me.
Saved us from relegation that year.
He made the Dogs of war and not scared to face anyone.
The Cup run & win was our last trophy
He brought Kanchelskis to the club and turned us into a team to be feared.
Many goid memories from his time here
Injuries were a big factor too
He only left when he wasnt backed to sign Tore Andre Flo.
Wish we had that forward line playing yesterday.

Cant have a bad word said agst Big Joe , great player , one of us and knew what it meant to be an Evertonian.

'Cause derby wins would've gotten us somewhere other than nowhere for the last 30 'kin years. These [Poor language removed] are low on the totem pole of my long term goals. No use winning a Porsche with no tires.

I rather win a cup but we haven’t and therefore our only real enjoyment comes from beating them.

We have to be the most joy deprived fanbase in this country.

A derby result shouldn't add or detract from the overarching goals...I understand the sentiment from a fans perspective but it's too myopic for the club as a whole and I hope the new blood are more focused than us.

I used to think Gordon Lee was atrocious against Liverpool. Just checked out his record:

played 12

won 2
lost 4
drew 6

...and that was against a Liverpool team in their pomp winning 3 English league titles and 2 ECs.
He also secured a first derby win in seven years. It’s hardly a modern phenomenon.
