2025/26 David Moyes

Personally I thought Liverpool played alright. Even if you disagree, they are still a team loaded with quality players that a significant level above nearly all of ours.
Well i do disagree. They have dropped points this year to lots of teams that we think we are better than. I just want more thats all. We arent the poorest team in the league with no fans and no stadium, its ok to have a little ambition.

We've all got our opinions about the way he's done it - defensively solid, staying in games v playing his favourites, ignoring young players.

But he's done better than expected - last season and this. And exactly what he would've promised TFG - stability.

It's joyless, percentage football a lot of the time but the players are working for him (obvs not Barry) - getting late points/wins is the number 1 sign of a good mentality imo.

But it only took a bit more positivity in a few home games and we're right in the mix for CL.

That's what you get with Moyes.

The last two fixtures were crunch time in terms of Europe. Two wins would have had us in 6th place and level on points with Liverpool. The loss and a draw we achieved has us in 10th place and eight points behind Liverpool.

The Everton of my lifetime have always bottled it when the universe offers them any sort of opportunity to get ahead. We need a manager who can, more than anything else, change that tendency. Moyes has never shown anything to suggest he is that manager.

Yes, but in every metric we are well behind the teams you want us to really compete against. So what you want and the reality are two very different things.

100%. we dont want rinse and repeat, we want someone to take us over the hump for once. Not saying we deserve it or it will happen but isnt it ok to want nice things?:))

From Gemini AI:

"Since the start of the 2013/14 season, Everton have faced Liverpool 28 times in all competitions. It has been a historically difficult period for the Toffees, who have managed only two wins in that span.

The record stands at:

  • Everton Wins: 2
  • Draws: 12
  • Liverpool Wins: 14"

I think the problem might not be Moyes. There's a collective neurosis about them and I'm convinced they feed off it when we play them.
Most of our managers have a poor record at Anfield but at Goodison it was a different story.
The facts don’t lie that Moyes lost more
games at home in a decade than any other Everton manager…8 losses out of 11 games at home in his first tenure.
In the same period we lost 6 games against Man Utd and Arsenal and 5 games against Chelsea at a time when Liverpool were in the doldrums.
We lost no games at Goodison in the 11 years before he arrived and we’ve lost only 2 since he left in 2013.
In the 35 years since 1990 he has been Manager for 80% of Everton’s losses at home and that’s irrefutable.

I think it’s more of a Moyes problem than an Everton one based on the facts.

If you look at our record since 1995, it's terrible. The earky 90s were the last time we consistently got results against them.

"Since the start of 1995, the Merseyside derby has been overwhelmingly dominated by Liverpool. In the roughly 31 years since then, Everton have managed only 9 victories in all competitive competitions.

The overall record since January 1995 across the Premier League and FA Cup is:

  • Everton Wins: 9
  • Draws: 27
  • Liverpool Wins: 29"
Not really, this pre-dates Moyes. I know some will say he was in situ fur a long period, but it's something that transcends managers and has become so ingrained in the clubs psycho it's hard to shift.

Ask the same thing about our record vs utd etc from 1995. It's all poor.

I do think Moyes has wasted opportunities in some games, but I think laying our malaise solely at his door is mad.

Actually it is funny you see it that way...im AN OPTIMIST...I honestly believe Everton can be BETTER, Ive seen it and believe they have the tools ( ownership, stadium) etc. to do so. You apparently are very content with your half full pint glass of warm ale:)
Absolutely not, I've stated many times that parting ways with Moyes at the end of the season wouldnt keep me up at night. We have a very talented squad with a mix of youth and experience that in the future will be competing for silverware of that I am certain.
