2025/26 David Moyes

Surely on that basis he should have been sacked by now then? No point setting targets if there’s no reprimand for not achieving them
Yup, that's the point of targets. They are abitrary lines in the sand that provide clarity. On one side, you have succeeded. On the other, you have failed. Trying to massage a failure over the line because of "reasons" defeats the purpose. Budgeting targets are conservative by design. They are almost always reasonable worst-case scenarios. If they budgeted for 12th and we finished 13th, then he has taken us back. They should draw the logical conclusion.

Where did that even come from. I mean how do you budget for a 12th place finish anyway. Buy players you think aren’t good enough. Appoint a Manager who isn't better than that. Got to laugh haven't you.

Giving our Texan overlords a pinch of good intent, I’m assuming a 12th place finish was purely from a financial perspective rather than any sporting aspirations.

…..basically, he’s done ok for 16 months but we don’t want him because of his previous record.
Its not ok
It really isn't
His first 6 months he did well and it was European placement form. Since then he's got progressively worse
We can all see the glaring holes in his approach so we have to assume he sees them too but his stubbornness gets in his own way. And now he's heading off for an extended holiday when we can all see there is much work to be done.
It's not ok, not at all

There’s a big portion of our fanbase that is just happy to survive as well, though. There’s threads on here from during the season with fans being concerned that we may have (shudder) qualified for Europe whilst we “aren’t ready” (whatever that means). I do think the tide is turning, though. I think the Sunderland game was a massive watershed. More and more are starting to realise that we don’t have to have Davey and the board peeing on us and telling us it’s raining. But there are some, like soldiers in the jungle years after WW2 ended, who are so petrified of life without Moyes that they just can’t take the leap.
The word consolidation when used talking about Everton boils my piss.
Consolidation is used by clubs being promoted with very little experience of the premier league.
We should never be using the word while talking about Everton.
Everton have been in the top division for over 70 years, were a founder member of the football league a major player in the creation of the Premier league ( part of the big five) .
It is over 30 years since we won anything we have to start progressing now not in 2 years time .
Moyes has to go now

They have a social media team so would imagine they’ll have people monitoring social media. I would think they won’t be unaware of the strength of feeling amongst some of the online community. If they do extend, then we’ll know no strategy, no ambition. Just happy to exist.
TFG / Everton have people watching all sorts of fan media and forums, they know fully well that the fans would rather not have Moyes than continue with him, but I don't think they care.

You needed 65 points for Europe in the 24/25 season which higlights:

A)What a great opportunity we just frittered away
B)How low your levels of expectation for Moyes are. Would your bar be this low for another manager?
Being fed the 'not ready for Europe' line even though it was handed to us on a plate is so frustrating it beggars belief.
It's like saying 'don't score early lads you'll make them angry'

….I’m saying if he didn’t have the Kenwright baggage, would he be given a less grief for the job he’s done these last 16 months?
If he didn't carry the past baggage of already being here then we wouldn't know his limitations, you could give more time to someone you believe has an actual goal in mind and can see the hunger for it.

It's not just past baggage with Moyes because not everybody was stuck in 1 of the 2 dividing camps.
He doesn't look like a man with a plan, he doesn't look like he has that hunger anymore.

You could write his playbook out for him as he has no room/backbone for change, or just flat out refuses to believe his game has been lost in the wilderness.

The media provided him an Ego and have been stroking it since.

Simple Question:
David, You came back to this club at a time when there was one target in play, you achieved it.
What is your goal for Everton Football Club ?

Or, What is your goal for David Moyes ?

I don’t disagree but that’s not my point, point is they dismissed a manager who won them a league title, spent a significant amount in the transfer market, had a poor season, retained champions league status and still dismissed the manager.

What is Tony Scott’s point exactly? People like him do my head in to be honest these days, they have a platform to be truthful and fair but they don’t, they act the disingenuous arsehole time and again.

Agree with every word. Client journalism at its finest. Utterly embarrassing

It's a nonsense anyway.

Use the whole squad then, what's the worst that can happen? Heaven forbid the fans get a bit of enjoyment by watching some matches in different locations etc.
