100 %. But I've heard a lot of people arguing the opposite- that the end of the season is the anomaly, rather than us levelling out from good luck.Great shout but to be fair a lot of us could also see it with our own eyes as well.
There’s no evidence of any new contract though which the poster made out like it had already happened.Just because Everton are comfortable with Moyes seeing out his contract doesn't mean Moyes feels the same way. Going into the final year of your deal with no leverage and no job security is not a position any manager wants to be in, he'd almost certainly be pushing for an extension. Hopefully TFG knock it back.
The broad point is: at the start of the season, 12th would've been expected. We performed better than that for much of the season, perhaps due to statistically anomoly @Dwight K Schrute, then faltered badly with 7 games to go.Agreed on the broader footballing strategy and how that translates into operations and target setting but last 7 games aside or the first 31 (whichever way you choose to look at it) the only thing that actually matters is the 38 games and where we finally finished.
What I find staggering if we can see what a streamlined operational structure should look like where everyone is aligned yet the club regardless of ownership has not seemed to embrace that. This summer and then the early games of next year will really show how aligned the recruitment strategy and Moyes was.
It strikes me as a leadership that don't know what they want or, league progress is secondary to what they want.
Matty, you KNOW Moyes isn't the long term answer because Moyes himself has said he's not the long term answer and he was talking retirement. If he's crap next year IN year, the coaches available are usually pretty awful. That's why most teams make changes in the summer. If he's not here long term then why stick with him at all?
It's stick or twist with him and I have no idea why anyone would want to stick.
That’s the only other reason I would want a new manager for next season 1) not only current availability but 2) it’s a good season to bed a new manager in if they do not also have to contend with Europe. It all appears moot anyway…I just think we are missing a trick.
I'm sorry, I don't look at football stats. I have no idea if we were performing better or worse than the stats suggest - I presume the club were and that should be considered. The broadly tracking bit. A real club would be so concerned about all the things you said, as well as the underlying metrics. Too many red flags to be ignored.
So, as to your point about a disproportionate view of the season, there is no disproportionate view. We've been shocking and were massively riding our luck when performing better. And that was borne out in the end.
As to the Pickford thing, you could have the greatest keeper that ever lived, but if you continue to give up chances like we were, you will
be found out. Therefore, Moyes was riding mostly on pure luck.
There isnt even a rumour anywhere that he maybe going. But it seems people are convinced he is.Are you lot really going to talk about this all summer?

I always thought that was the case until recently where someone elsewhere said it was Kinnear. Im happy to stand corrected. He signed off on Dibling, he signed off on them all.
