2025/26 David Moyes

I have just seen that, disappointing but I expect that move has been in the pipeline for a while.
I suspect that the club or Iraolas camp have leaked it for a reason, not sure who would benefit from that going out unless it was to hurry up a club they are waiting for.

Apparently he is one of a few they are looking at, not certain to be him at this stage.

The thing that annoys me the most is that we never make a proactive managerial decision. The last time we were proactive in changing a manager was back when Silva was appointed. And that was only after we failed to get him in a reactionary attempt to replace Koeman and ended up with 6 months of Allardyce before we did get him.

By backing Moyes, we are going to end up making yet another reactionary decision to replace him mid season. Best case scenario he runs down his contract and we have that lingering over us for most of the season

If you are constantly making reactionary managerial appointments you will never improve.
Even with Silva it felt a bit "who is having a moment, ok, let's get him" when we first went for him.

The broad point is: at the start of the season, 12th would've been expected. We performed better than that for much of the season, perhaps due to statistically anomoly @Dwight K Schrute, then faltered badly with 7 games to go.

My feeling is that was down to Moyes and it's been poor. But others seem to be willing to overlook it and consider the season as a whole.

I just don't know how we can look at our recruitment last year and think that is repeatable given the total lack of return on investment.
Yep I agree generally with that.

A couple of specific points - end of season we can look at trends and patterns re points distributions but the only thing that matters is season ends total, however the full season’s key performance stats do bear out where we were out performing our xg for example, and when you look at all of them, very little to no progress has been made.

Finally, there are obviously two parts to recruitment, the player being brought in and then the managers willingness to play them. I get why he didn’t play them for example on Sunday. It was a relegation decider, anything less that what is perceived to be his strongest team he would have come in for criticism given what was on the line, but there have been plenty of opportunities elsewhere in the season to have given them more minutes. Given it has been broadly reported that Moyes has final say, this can only be on him and no one else.

I believe a lot if not all is down to Moyes. From an average of around 40% possession which is far harder physically on the players to the inability to make timely changes and then constantly relying on the same 13/14 players. Riding our luck a lot in games as well. I get that our target would have likely been say top 10 at a push maybe but when the opportunity presented itself, he came out wanting (again).

he’s not mate the same person who told me he’s staying and £150 mill onwards spend

said we are signing jacky baby, john stones and ivan tony if he lowers his wages

i have said for a while im no oracle

and i don’t give a hoot if anyone

thinks im smoking crack
Why John Stones? We already have a CB with a major injury problem, we don’t need to give him company in the treatment room, we need someone who has a chance to be on the pitch.

Shows how hard it is to even just stand still in this league

Yeah I mean he has been terrible recently, and it should be questioned but he'll be here next year so probably better to just enjoy the summer (outside)
I'm currently disassembling rusted rattan furniture while listening to Deftones.

My replies are giving my aging fingers a break from twisting tiny screws loose.

Season is done. Disappointing but nothing I can really do about save a few moans on here.

But again, players like Dibling and Aznou and George would add value under a better manager.

The transfer window looks worse because of the clown who is in charge of selection. That clown also didn't want full backs for reasons such as he didn't think there was anyone better than JOB, therefore, again, the 'issues' with recruitment are due to Moyes.

He's the main problem.

hear me out here…

so if we’re poo next season theyl sack

they’ve done it at roma enough to not be assed what time they do it
Forget about Moyes for the moment, is it better to change manager part way through a season or for a new guy to have a full preseason and the opportunity to sign the players they want prior to a season starting?
