2025/26 David Moyes

I think this is a bit of a simplistic way of looking at it for a few reasons.

Firstly, those West Ham fans want Moyes back because it's got worse since he left. It's easy to jump to the conclusion that it's worse because he left, but correlation doesn't imply causation. It's basically the same thing as texting your ex when you're lonely and saying you wish you'd never left because everything was so much better when she was around, but actually leaving her was the right thing to do, it's what you've done since that's the problem.

With the others, is that really what happened? Did we really want those managers? That's not how I remember it. Certainly the Lampard one is one of those weird myths that's taken on a life of it's own because some idiots claim they 'remember' it when they do nothing of the sort. People wanted Lampard when the choice was Lampard or Pereira, and we knew Pereira was being pushed by the parasitic Joorabchian and had just had a mental breakdown live on Sky Sports News. They did not want Lampard out of all the possible managers in the world.
Also those criticising Lampard as Everton manager - realistically who would have been a great appointment at that time? At least we had a strong home record under Frank including key wins against Man United and Chelsea. I will always respect what Lampard and then Dyche did during almost impossible conditions. The net spend was minimal at best or even having to make a profit to keep afloat.

Pereira would have taken us down in my view. Did he go 12 games without a win at Wolves to start this season before he was sacked? How hard is it to manage a Forest team with two quality centre backs, Anderson and Gibbs-Whyte in midfield? Lampard had Michael Keane and Mason Holgate at centre back with a washed Gomes and Doucoure in midfield. When Forest inevitably lose Anderson and possibly Gibbs-Whyte let's see how Pereira gets on next season.

Whilst I want to move on from Moyes at this point I doubt many Everton fans would have viewed Moyes the same way as West Ham did if we had three top 10 finishes in four seasons, a European trophy and a couple of other fantastic European runs.

This is my point....what on earth do you think has changed ??!!

Its the same stuff now being rolled out by fans....barely 15 months on from us being an utter car-crash of club off and all over the pitch.

Maybe...just maybe we don't throw another manager out, cos we want more sexy passes and unknown foreign names.....
Well to a lot of fans its not as much of a shot in the dark as that, and people definitely don't feel like they're just attracted to a 'sexy foreign name' over a dour scotsman.

I watch a lot of footy, watch a lot of other teams games, watch a lot of analysis about footy. I'm not claiming to be a tactical genius who is infallible when it comes to this. Of course it's possible that Iraola or Glasner could come here and fail, just as much as I could step outside today and get hit by a car and die. That doesn't mean that I'm reasonably expecting that to happen and planning around it though.

There are two extremely appealing, PL experienced managers available as free agents this summer. If the managers available were just Frank, Silva, Koeman or whoever else then I think Moyes would still have a lot more support to finish his contract. The objective reality though is that Glasner has achieved more than Moyes in England in a fraction of the time, and Iraola has just qualified for the champions league, managing a club the size of Bournemouth while playing a brand of football that our fans desperately want to see.

Just as much as you can say well West Ham got rid of Moyes and look what happened to them - Bournemouth moved on Gary O'Neil to bring Iraola in the first place and took a lot of criticism in the media at the time, people felt that O'Neil was doing a decent job and you should 'be careful what you wish for'. Safe to say that it currently looks to be a good decision on their part to have a bit more ambition for themselves.

I'm not interested in change for changes sake, I just see two opportunities thus summer that are too good to pass up on.

Well, we all want Moyes gone for 12 points in his last 10 games.
Whether wilfully or not, I think that's a massive misunderstanding of the sentiment towards Moyes. The people who want Moyes to go (and it's absolutely not 'all' by any means) feel that way because he's been the manager here for about 15 years and he still does the same things they didn't like him doing 20 years ago, not because we've lost the last couple of games.

As I said though, all managers at all clubs will come under pressure if they have prolonged periods of poor form. It's not a trait peculiar to Everton fans, it's just how football is. It's a results business, you don't get results you come under pressure, it goes with the territory.

My next door neighbour is a West Ham season ticket holder, as are most of his family. He doesn’t want Moyes back, neither does any of the people that sit around him in the stadium or any of his family members… Every one of them also believes Nuno is a far better coach than Moyes.

Just thought I’d put that in here for balance.
