2025/26 David Moyes

I just can't reconcile it.

If he wanted them and signed off on every signing why won't he use them?

The simple answer is he didn't want them to begin with for me.

He’s said he has the final say, not sure how it can be much clearer.

It was also reported that Barry had won the most headers in Europe outside the premier league so an ideal replacement for DCL that fits the Moyes game plan.

I think it would be good for the team to commit to development even if that means we lose sometimes while we get better!
There's no guarantee the players develop.

The targets outlined by the CEO were a top half finish and a cup run. It doesn't sound like he's being judged on how many youngsters he plays each week.

Personally, I think it would be good to win as many footy matches as we can and if the players train well and earn their place in the team then they will get it.

I don't see the point in weakening our team and losing matches to develop a player so in the best case scenario we can sell them to Man City in two years time.

What does final say mean though?

He's just giving a thumbs up or down to the options in front of him.

He wasn't shy about talking about how frustrated he was with the recruitment department failing to get deals done.

I wouldn't be shocked if he signed off on all of these signings because they were having a hopeless time of getting any other deals done and he needed bodies in the squad.

And the manager should be sacked if he doesn’t reach those goals as he’s left us with nothing else to look positively at otherwise.

The point of building a club of development and consistent improvement is that in time you may reach a spot, even if only briefly, that you can go and beat the best teams and win something. Palace won the FA Cup because they built a high level team. And I truly believe if Everton could show the patience to do something like that we’d reap even greater rewards because I see us as having the resources and desire to truly build on it.

Well he seems to be on track to get us a top half finish. Maybe they sack him at the end of the season but it all sounds to be fairly positive around the club concerning Moyes performance despite the grumbles you read from the section of the support that hates the look of him.

Palace got to that final off of the back of a very nice set of draws as well, something nobody ever mentions. They got to the semi finals with the toughest team they faced being Fulham. They had to be good to beat Villa in the semi final, but that Villa side was focusing on the Champions League quarter finals. Then it was their day in the final and what happened to that Palace team that developed all of those players? They sold them on to Arsenal and City to enjoy.

I don't want to support Man City's feeder club. I don't want to watch us persist with developing the next John Stones doing pirouettes in our box who then jibs us off the second they start to perform for us.

It’s not about dominating for 90 minutes. It’s being competitive for 90 minutes. Carrying a threat for 90 minutes. Not being pinned back to our own third for long portions. There are too many spells like for example the first 35 minutes of the second half at Newcastle.

My point still stands, whether we look for domination of games or being competitive. They both come from consistency, from a larger squad, with familiarity. These are all built over time. Our starting point was very low, so I am definitely happy with the competitiveness of the team, in enough games, to not be overly worried about this.

Also consider that there have been a lot of disruption with injuries to some of our better players, the players that help with retaining possession, stopping attacks at source and therefore being more competitive on a more regular basis.

Again, I just don't think it is overly concerning, given the above reasons, along with the tightness of the league.

Well you can be honest about what we are, a club that will have to sell its best players to richer clubs like every other club in the world save for two and try to strive for success, including actual trophies, in that world or you can try to believe that’s not how it works and then you’re probably going to get the last three decades for three more decades.

The simple answer is he didn't want them to begin with for me.

Personally think we were knocked back by our first picks mate and the club opted for youngsters over grealsih and KDH profiles in some cases.

When it comes to Moyes signing off i think there is a difference between "choosing" and "assenting".

If he gets his own way this summer i think we will see more of the Diblings and Aznous next year, genuinely believe its a power play.

Sack him at the end of the season and the club will be a laughing stock.

Yup. It's not particularly complicated or hard to understand.

It’s not that it’s concerning so much as it’s not going anywhere. I don’t really rate any of those excuses. This looks the same as it did about three matches into Moyes return. I give him much credit for how solid of a manager he is. It’s time for more.

But I don't want that to be the main focus of the club, simply developing players for other teams.

I'd rather focus on the players who are committed to a long term future here and want to win trophies for us.
