2025/26 David Moyes

I mean… That’s something, right?!
No, most of those points are lucky or are a result of being forced to play players against his will because of injuries or we only won because he changed things at half time. We didn’t even play any 18 years olds in most of those games and we were playing CBs at fullback so most of the points don’t count. Also, the opposition took their chances in those games we would be on about 20 points and in big trouble given our home form.

Everton not playing games really does send some off their rockers doesn’t it….

Both sides of this debate have a point tbh.

Don't think it's right to suggest that there hasn't been progress. Table is tight and we're probably over performing points wise, but there's been good performances sprinkled through the season and a few first team players have improved.

Equally though I don't think there's a lot of long term thinking being employed by the manager at least. Don’t think it should be controversial at all to acknowledge that the young players signed have been managed poorly.
I don’t want to be too harsh but I genuinely don’t know that I can get to 5 complete performances. Meaning like with the ball, without the ball, chance creation, winning the ball back, applying territorial pressure and not being under too much ourselves for 90 minutes or thereabouts. Burnley was one. Fulham at home another. The Villa game we didn’t win was actually another one. Not sure past that. Even like Forest home which was a comfortable win had a 30 minute spell of us just being totally on the back foot and saw us benefit massively from a defending error. Prior to the Burnley game we had scored from a goalkeeping error in three straight wins. None of this can last forever.

Grinding out wins is good and important. It’s also all we have, and it’s tough for that to go anywhere at the end of the day.

Prior to the Burnley game Just seven of Everton's 16 home goals (43.75%) in the Premier League have come from open play, the joint-fewest of any club (along with Crystal Palace).

Let's lose some matches but play them in a way that makes Big Ig and all the other footy intellectuals happy.

Which manager in the league right now is doing this to your standard Iggy?

Are they above us in the league? What is their net spend the past 5 years?

On a separate note, how much does Davey love KDH.

Id say Phil Neville is looking at his phone waiting for it to ping and absolutely raging.
When you see how he rates KDH and Grealish and how hesitant he is to play the other signings it raises big red flags about that summer window business everyone wants to lay at Moyes' feet.

I just don't see him wanting the likes of Barry, Dibling, Rohl, or Aznou but that's what he was given and it's apparent from how he picks his team.

I think all but the absolute top clubs, in any given season, will say the same about their team.

Also, when you have a mid table team, regardless of manager, there will be very few games where the opposition don't have a period of the game where they are on top. That is how football works, teams that are fairly level on ability and/or tactics will generally both have periods of dominance, to variant degrees.

Where we have come from, including the length of time spent staring into the abyss, the fact that we are having any games at all where we are the dominant force for the whole 90 minutes is showing improvement. This year the league is an anybody can beat anybody season, you just have to look at Wolves in the last 2 games. It is especially the case from 6th -14th, with this kind of season you may not get a side totally dominant against another very often. It is how you manage those periods, and in the main we have dealt with them well, again showing positive improvements.

Personably think it’s a power play mate. In terms of how players have been treated.

We have a committee and clearly Grealish and KDH have been the most successful signings last summer and I’d suggest they are the ones Moyes pushed for.

No doubt he will be in that committee in the summer pointing to that to get his way, I think it’s strategic.

Be surprised if he doesn’t get a new deal and more sway on transfers this summer.

Jarrod Bowen incoming.

Interplay between KDH NDiaye and Grealish (RIP) feels the most "on the same wavelength" since Baines and Pienaar on the left.

Get us some fullbacks who love the ball and the school of science is very much back in session.

I just can't reconcile it.

If he wanted them and signed off on every signing why won't he use them?

The simple answer is he didn't want them to begin with for me.

It’s not about dominating for 90 minutes. It’s being competitive for 90 minutes. Carrying a threat for 90 minutes. Not being pinned back to our own third for long portions. There are too many spells like for example the first 35 minutes of the second half at Newcastle.

I think it would be good for the team to commit to development even if that means we lose sometimes while we get better!
