2025/26 David Moyes

Overall he's done a good job, especially last season.

But in some ways it really doesn't matter who he plays, Moyes teams will always prioritise 3 things

Keeping their shape
Getting the distances right
Not getting caught ahead of the ball.

It's risk free football.

His salary is irrelevant. Every squad/player has a certain level they can't exceed regardless of how they are managed. We saw that with Carlo.
How can an employees salary be ā€œirrelevantā€, especially one that is in the top 5-6 highest in the World….surely the employer can expect a performance that is commensurate with that level of pay? If not they may as well employ me or you and save millions.

What is the level you think we can’t exceed regardless of how we’re managed - in effect you’re saying nobody could do a better job irrespective of what they are paid.

Moyes isn't in the top 5/6

He certainly takes the low variance approach doesn't he? Think what's starting to wear on people a bit is that it's the perfect time to be more of a risk taker. We're solidly mid-table and can afford to take a few chances. The payoff is Europe. The downside is 13th. Would like to see him embrace some more variability.

And yet we get caught out wide open with Gana skipping down the wing, no-one in midfield at all and only Keane on the half way line.

That's what I am saying. Carlo Ancelloti had finishing at a similar level with a better squad. The managers salary doesn't make the players better than they are. Based on economics we should be 13th or 14th. We're higher than. That so Moyes is earning his salary.
