2025/26 David Moyes

That’s the grand summary. For me, Moyes did little wrong since he came back, right up to the point where Branthwaite was fit and AFCON finished. Shambles ever since.

Yeah, tbf I don't know who I would play for 2nd CB until JOB is back. I thought Keane was better than Tarks for the majority this season, but then Tarks and Branthwaite worked out pretty well the most time, whilst Keane and Branthwaite didn't.

And we all know, Moyes did mostly well when he had to improvise with little to work with. Seen him doing a lot of times. On the other hand, also showed to not be a top pragmatist with a lot to work with.

Always wanted him gone in the summer but today might be the day I want him out immediately
I want him out as soon as his longer term replacement is identified and ready to step straight in.

Honestly no point in sacking at this point in the season if it means panicking to appoint someone, or handing it to Ferguson or the like until the end of the season.

He's done the job he was brought in to do.

Now, where do we go next?

I bet you Wham are regretting getting rid of him when you look how things have gone for them.

100%

Departure and replacement announced week before last home game of the season, everyone gets to say thanks and goodbye, replacement in post morning of May 25th

Would appointing a Ferguson, Baines Coleman etc make this season any less miserable? We've won one game at home in about 4 months, we got knocked out both cups by the first half decent teams we faced. We're watching atrocious football that isn't building to anything. If they win today and stay in the European hunt then fine, but a loss drops us to around 12th and effectively ends the season

If its actually true about McNeil then Moyes has allowed himself to be absolutely rattled by the questions over his team selections.
I watched the last press conference and the reporters have got to the point they are terrified of asking him questions the fans would like to hear.

Apart from Guila she does ask better questions but he always seem to shut her down.

He is very arrogant

He absolutely hates being questioned especially by people he sees as less qualified than him

That slap comment years ago revealed the underlying mindset and I just can't respect it.

Answering to journalists would be the part I would hate as a football manager. The same mundane boring questions, barely there's something intellectual and interesting or something that fans want to know. That's pretty sad and I am sure they read the forum here as well...

This is why he will never ever make the changes to the team that people are asking for, because if it works he’ll see it as massively humiliating that fans were correct and he was wrong. He’d genuinely rather lose games with his preferred team because then he can still say he knows best and the alternative line up wouldn’t have done any better. As I’ve said recently he’s moved into full self-preservation mode. That’s when the end is in sight for a manager, because at the end of the day he’s paid to win football matches and not online arguments with fans and journalists.

Ferguson - yes
Baines/Coleman - no idea

It just feels like too many games for a caretaker manager to step up from within the club and see out the rest of the season. I wouldn’t be entirely against it though.

Just don’t want Moyes sacked if it means handing an 18+ month contract to someone who isn’t a long term solution (see Dyche, Moyes)
