2025/26 David Moyes

It wasn't meant to justify the last two windows it was meant to justify the fact that we aren't going to automatically compete for Europe because we spent money for the first time in five years.
Yeah this is true, generally.

But given the quality of the prem table this year, Europe was an opportunity. And none of the expensive business done has improved our play or chances at that... In fact the lads aren't in the pitch except Barry, who's raw.

I think it's a generally accepted truth being in Europe improves recruitment opportunity, so to a) waste money on areas of the pitch b) and neglect others and miss the Europe chance ( maybe we can still do it 🤞 ) is bad.

He has a ceiling. He is just too stuck in his ways to take a team any further.
He was definitely the right manager to bring in at the time. He deserved to have this season with the club, spending some money last summer. He has achieved exactly what I thought he would, mid-table safety.
Do I want him pulling all the strings on our recruitment policy? Do I think he's our long term manager that's going to get us in to Europe? Unfortunately not.

I will be surprised if it’s not 4 CB’s across the back. Gana probably keeps his place undeservingly, and maybe Armstrong on the wing. At Villa it’s was garner, Armstrong and Rhol in midfield

I wouldn't be surprised tbf. For me, George has to start as well, we looked much more lively when he came on against United.

Against Villa we had a team that almost lined up themselves due to all injuries and absences, we have almost everyone ready now.

Considering Newcastle can be vulnerable at the back his pace could be useful in a game like today.

That’s the grand summary. For me, Moyes did little wrong since he came back, right up to the point where Branthwaite was fit and AFCON finished. Shambles ever since.
