2025/26 David Moyes

It is beyond me how any professional football manager can play ;
1. Our best centre half and midfielder out of position.
2. Not select any full backs with 3 on the bench ( and 4 available)
3. Play a promising young midfielder in a position that he's never played.
4. Only select only one wide midfielder with 2 others on the bench.

It's just nuts.

We spent almost the entire second half attacking, we were caught once on a counter when we had all ten outfield players up the pitch. That wasn't the negative, defensive performance some are making it out to be, we are Judy completely lacking in a cutting edge. Seen us play much, much worse at home this season.
Without once looking like we knew how to open them up, and without once being odds on to score at any point. The nearest we came was a weaker-footed lash from 30 yards by a centre half.
It was a more defensive performance than you're making out based on selection alone.

More than nuts, it's criminal.

For me the future improvement comes from better players being at the club. People are getting very worked up about the likes of Rohl, Dibling and Patterson not being on the pitch - would they improve us that much? I'm not convinced.

People seem to be demanding a top 10 finish and good attractive football all in the space of 12 months on from being in a relegation battle. There's definitely no such thing as patience in modern day football and I do worry we'll pay the price for it if Moyes goes this summer.
For me it's not the personnel, it's the way we play. We're set up to grind out results in a season where we don't really need to be doing that, and we all know that that's how Moyes is and is extremely unlikely to change. I just can't be bothered with years more of us having an isolated striker with an out and out midfielder pretending to be a number 10 as his nearest support and the game plan being to spoil and keep it tight over and over and over again. If Rohl and Dibling aren't good enough to make a difference then fine, I can accept that. Why we would be so confident that we will get better players by giving the same manager responsible for buying them more money I'm not sure, but there we are.

Not been as annoyed at a loss for a while. Not just the weird starting 11, but more the lack of investment in January. Annoying as JB and JG playing at full back is, they are still better than the players they replace, which is just ridiculous when you think about the money we spent on Dibling.

That then leaves holes elsewhere and we have to play an out of form Gana. Don't get me started on Armstrong on the wing.

I like Moyes, he has the team higher currently than he should as I think we are bang average, but it could and should have been so much better with better, more thought through signings.

I wonder how/why, after we played REALLY well with a flat 3 in midfield, players come back from AFCON, we then flat refuse to play that formation, and we are subsequently woeful at home.

It shouldn't be hard to connect the dots to fix the issues.

I’m a fan of Moyes, I don’t actually think anyone has us much higher in the table this year.. however, he really is frustrating.

I just don’t see how we even planned to score a goal last night. Barry is isolated in the box, Tim and Gana can’t shoot, Armstrong is never going to create..

It felt very Dyche to send the team out to stifle the opposition and nick a goal from a set piece (and was obvious after corner 3 that wasn’t happening) or rely on an individual moment of magic. And as United have more quality, that was ALWAYS going to come from them, not us.
The corners were a joke. Tarkowski really needs to be called out for the way he behaved. More and more, he seems to be trying to project his hard man persona. The squabbling with Porro was unnecessary. Had we nicked one from a corner I would not have been surprised had the ref ruled it out.
