2025/26 David Moyes

This is the question I am asking. People are saying that all the players are terrible, we have no strikers, we have no creativity, we have no pace BUT Moyes should have us pushing for Champions league 🤣
I don't think anyone (sane) realistically expects that. It is possible, though, to hold the opinion that this is a massive improvement on prior seasons, AND that we have lost points because of negative selections and changes, that would have seen us up there in/around European places.

You literally said it - we could be knocking at the top 4 had he not sh*t the bed at home..

The team that beat us last night are doing just that and they're super average these days.
There was a stat on TV yesterday that showed that every team except Derby that moved stadiums in the PL era all had a drop off of form compared to their last season at the old ground. This includes City, Arsenal, Spurs and West ham. It happens.

I don't think it's a massively difficult or controversial concept to acknowledge that you might think 9th isn't an unacceptable position in itself, but that the signs for future improvement aren't great and the football is poor to watch. We don't have to be completely binary in our views do we?

For me the future improvement comes from better players being at the club. People are getting very worked up about the likes of Rohl, Dibling and Patterson not being on the pitch - would they improve us that much? I'm not convinced.

People seem to be demanding a top 10 finish and good attractive football all in the space of 12 months on from being in a relegation battle. There's definitely no such thing as patience in modern day football and I do worry we'll pay the price for it if Moyes goes this summer.

Yet we won only 5 games I think in our last season at goodison. To win less is a disgrace, I could be wrong, I’m sure I heard it somewhere, that spurs only lost 2 at home in their new ground first seon
And Arsenal 1.
You need to have some perspective on the stats you’re spitting out

I mean, if you are happy with the dress we are being served up at home, then fair enough.

I for one dont pay ÂŁ800a year to watch us play the way were playing.

Leaving full backs on the bench for centre halves.

The team is not good enough for Europe and wed have taken 11th before the season started... but everyone else is inconsistent, so the goalposts change.

Play players in the correct players and we may actually have pace, a striker who gets service and isnt expect to feed of scraps. No one expects CL, but what we do expect is a Plan B and we havent had one of them at home since October.

Is it that simple though ? City had just been promoted the year before, Arse and Spurs (iirc) had to contract investment in playing staff to afford the ground, and West Ham...
Whereas we had one of the biggest cash injections into our squad and our manager was lauded over his previous six month's of form.

Haven’t we when Patterson has been at RB and O’Brien CB, won 4 out 5 and hardly conceded a goal. And let’s have it right Patterson won’t be here next season. We’ve. Win about 2 in 10 and Rhol was very good in one of them wins. And I would argue he would have been better than TIm and gana last night.

There’s no long term plan with Moyes, you’re delusional if you think there is. Not won at home in nearly 3 months and he plays 4 players out position

The point I was making is that a new ground needs getting used to so home advantage is lost for a bit whilst we get used to it. That is what the stats showed me. I think we will do a Derby and have better one but only because we were so poor last season at home.

It's not the league position right now, although we never should be satisfied with 9th or 10th. There's 2 far bigger frustrations this season.

First we went out of both cups early without having a go against average opposition. Both with nowhere near our strongest team and one of those was by choice. This was a year of midtable security where cups should have been top top priority.

Then we have the completely unbalanced team line ups with a completely unsustainable way of playing. We have players being moved around all over the place because Moyes either wants to accommodate all his favourite senior pros or because he won't consider dropping them. Of all the young players, the only one who appears to be progressing is Armstrong, who spent 5 months out on loan.

I dont see the point of anything we are trying to do. It's not getting us results in the here and now but it's also not helping build anything for moving forward. You can never progress and be a good side if you don't want to play a balanced side. And you can never bridge the gap to better teams if you don't know how to develop and improve younger players.

Our home record has been terrible for years. It's not where we are playing, it's how we are trying to play at home.

I’m a fan of Moyes, I don’t actually think anyone has us much higher in the table this year.. however, he really is frustrating.

I just don’t see how we even planned to score a goal last night. Barry is isolated in the box, Tim and Gana can’t shoot, Armstrong is never going to create..

It felt very Dyche to send the team out to stifle the opposition and nick a goal from a set piece (and was obvious after corner 3 that wasn’t happening) or rely on an individual moment of magic. And as United have more quality, that was ALWAYS going to come from them, not us.

It isnt difficult or controversial but most would rather be stubborn to try to tell themselves they're right - the way of the world.

No 9th is a good position but not good enough for some. I was asking where should we be for them to be happy?

If someone had said going into March we'd be 9th and 11 points off 4th at the start of the season we would have have broken their hands off.

I think we can be frustrated with things but also be at peace that we are moving in the right direction and that money will be available once again to try and push on further.

9th sounds good, 11 points from 4th does too.

But if we're saying that, I think we need to also acknowledge 3 points from 14th - which would be backwards on both our previous seasons. That's not moving in the right direction. We've scored less this season vs Dyches full season, and remove 10 points as we did this time then and we sit where Forest are.

It's small margins, we're talking 1-3 results can mean the difference between 'wow we finished x' and 'what a terrible season'

So either Moyes is the right man, or he isn't. If you're changing that opinion on Moyes, of all managers, based on such margins then I'd suggest maybe reconsider.
