2025/26 David Moyes

Do we know that as fact, I can't see Moyes needing his finger twisted over Baines..

The thing is if you're sending your assistant to scout a player you like, your more than likely to get answer you want to hear.
Yes, Alan Irvine has given an interview explaining how he had to constantly pester and cajole Moyes to sign Baines. Even when we signed him he had to harass Moyes to play him because Moyes preferred having Jolene Lescott at left back for his height and defensive stability.

Firmly believe if we hadn’t had an injury that required Lescott moving back to centre back Baines would hardly have gotten a sniff.

Circumstances forced his hand. Same with Coleman, did everything possible to avoid playing him at right back. Until he really had no choice.

You’d think he’d have learnt the benefit of forward thinking fullbacks but here we are and he’s still playing Mkyo and JOB. Absolute dinosaur.

For some reason i thought he was talking about convincing Moyes to make
him part of his coaching team.

I still don't get the whole sending him out to watch Barry though, maybe he wanted to get the move done before the new set up was in place.

You cant progress with that kind of approach, the club will always be here, the manager won't.

Why would a manager come
out and say he has final say on transfers, if he didn’t
He’s just hanging himself with the fans
All of them? Seems by and large the fans are still behind him. That could change after the next five games, but then that's true of any manager outside the top six.
