2025/26 David Moyes

No one is seriously calling for him to be sacked right now, so I don’t know why some people keep saying this. No one is seriously saying he should be sacked at the end of the season for performance issues either.

There could/should be a decision point at the end of the season about a contract extension or not as I’m sure anyone sensible at the club will want to avoid going into a final season with a manager knowing he’s not getting a new deal. This seems to be the point of debate, do Everton extend Moyes or not.

Depending on how we close out the season might influence if Moyes gets extended or it might not. TFG may have already decided to stick with him, or they may have already decided to get a new manager whatever he does. No one knows.

All this ‘he’s not getting sacked if he gets x and you’ll bee getting laughed at’ is pure nonsense. He could easily get a five year extension, no more transfer money, and were kept in 8-13th for the next half a decade whilst TFG grow their asset. No one would be laughing then would they. Equally Moyes could finish 6th this season and they say thankyou very much but we’re hiring Pochettino or Nagelsmann.

No one knows. All I would say is that I’d prefer we didn’t go into a season with a manager in his final year so Moyes either needs to be backed with a new contract or a decision made on a different manager in the summer. It would be a misstep by TFG for me to allow the contract to enter the final year without an update although this scenario bizarrely seems to be seen as some sort of victory by some posters on here even though as shown by Glasner it could be absolutely ruinous for the club.

you need to check pages in here

as that’s what’s people have said

“sack him”

Ha ha ha.

Imagine being signed by him.

FFS, I'd run a mile from him.
Haha - I bet he's stubborn as.

I mean Armstrong, Tryique and Barry are getting miles. Hopefully something there... Dibling I simply don't understand. Over-hyped relegation season at Saints and we're in at £40m for a raw player in a position where a decent FB could do a better job. Rohl not ready, Adnan interesting but not getting game time. Then piled the remainder of his cash high on Jack, which for what - a single goal - looks to have backfired.

Overall not awful, but not good and not matched to the positions we needed. But if Rohl or Dibling or Adnan come good, (and if 2 out those three do OK) then I will back off criticizing our summer and Jan window. OR if we make Europe, which our Jan window has also scarcely helped.

Brilliant.

For me, earn it...

A) Get Europe (since you burned the cup games).
B) Maybe even if we just miss Europe playing OK football with our young signings contributing well - OK there's a future there.
C) If we miss Europe, and we're churning out 1st halves like those vs Leeds, Brighton etc... sorry Davey, taking too long to improve. Go head high with the salvation job last trot on your CV and the development of Barry, Garner, O Brien this time out - and thank you for a helpful second stint.

He's all over the place: emphasising players' young ages as an explanation they have a long road ahead to get game time but as you say playing Barry and now Armstrong extensively.

Barry is the key there: he couldn't buy a goal for months but left him in and we got the dividends eventually. I wonder if we did that with other younger players that could happen too? 🤔

The feller's a beaut and is just here on an ego trip and to screw a few more quid out of the club for himself and his family. There's no plan or project here.

Probably because Barry’s only competition was Beto tbh.

He rotated them both, as neither were doing much, then Barry hit some form and he stuck with him.

There’s plenty of stuff you can use to beat Moyes with without resorting to lies.

Where exactly was there a "lie"?

Tbh the style of play is the biggest surprise for me. Moyes in his first tenure you kind of knew what you were going to get. It went from the combative 4141 of his early years (to good success) moving more towards his favoured 4231 passing style of his later teams.

You could see the strengths and limitations of the team, like there were some fixtures when Arteta was in his absolute prime for us and a Hull or Sunderland would turn up at Goodison and you knew they were in for an absolute battering before a ball was even kicked. But equally you knew that same team was going to go away to Stamford Bridge and get physically manhandled by a team that was faster bigger and more powerful.

This last year though, no one can call a single result. I’ve genuine got no idea how we’re going to play tonight, wouldn’t surprise me if we won 4-0, wouldn’t surprise me if we lost 3-0.

Every time I watch us at home I think the backline looks an absolute shambles, yet we’ve got one of the best defences in the league statistically. I can’t see how we’re going to score a goal from anywhere when I look at our patterns of play, yet we’re 8th and KDH Ndiaye Barry Grealish all have ok goal contribution totals so far.

I think we’re a bit of a moments team currently, with an exceptional goalkeeper, and some very good players in KDH Ndiaye Grealish Garner. I’d like to see us move towards a more defined style so we could all be going into tonight’s game knowing how we’re going to play and with a good chance of building consistency of results at home but maybe that is the next step in the evolution of the team.
