2025/26 David Moyes

No one is seriously calling for him to be sacked right now, so I don’t know why some people keep saying this. No one is seriously saying he should be sacked at the end of the season for performance issues either.

There could/should be a decision point at the end of the season about a contract extension or not as I’m sure anyone sensible at the club will want to avoid going into a final season with a manager knowing he’s not getting a new deal. This seems to be the point of debate, do Everton extend Moyes or not.

Depending on how we close out the season might influence if Moyes gets extended or it might not. TFG may have already decided to stick with him, or they may have already decided to get a new manager whatever he does. No one knows.

All this ‘he’s not getting sacked if he gets x and you’ll bee getting laughed at’ is pure nonsense. He could easily get a five year extension, no more transfer money, and were kept in 8-13th for the next half a decade whilst TFG grow their asset. No one would be laughing then would they. Equally Moyes could finish 6th this season and they say thankyou very much but we’re hiring Pochettino or Nagelsmann.

No one knows. All I would say is that I’d prefer we didn’t go into a season with a manager in his final year so Moyes either needs to be backed with a new contract or a decision made on a different manager in the summer. It would be a misstep by TFG for me to allow the contract to enter the final year without an update although this scenario bizarrely seems to be seen as some sort of victory by some posters on here even though as shown by Glasner it could be absolutely ruinous for the club.

If he got us Europe I'd be willing to see him get that contract extension.

If we dont get it but secured top half, then he should be allowed to run his final year contract out and the club could monitor our progress next season.

If we dont get top half he should be sacked.

If TFG have ambitions for this club and aren't just here to park an investment to sell on in a few years they should be looking around now and sounding out alternative managers to step in should it be the third scenario. We need some ruthlessness back into this club.

Nice positive words by Moyes today.

Deffo wanting a new contract and right now on balance the guy deserves one.

Tbh the style of play is the biggest surprise for me. Moyes in his first tenure you kind of knew what you were going to get. It went from the combative 4141 of his early years (to good success) moving more towards his favoured 4231 passing style of his later teams.

You could see the strengths and limitations of the team, like there were some fixtures when Arteta was in his absolute prime for us and a Hull or Sunderland would turn up at Goodison and you knew they were in for an absolute battering before a ball was even kicked. But equally you knew that same team was going to go away to Stamford Bridge and get physically manhandled by a team that was faster bigger and more powerful.

This last year though, no one can call a single result. I’ve genuine got no idea how we’re going to play tonight, wouldn’t surprise me if we won 4-0, wouldn’t surprise me if we lost 3-0.

Every time I watch us at home I think the backline looks an absolute shambles, yet we’ve got one of the best defences in the league statistically. I can’t see how we’re going to score a goal from anywhere when I look at our patterns of play, yet we’re 8th and KDH Ndiaye Barry Grealish all have ok goal contribution totals so far.

I think we’re a bit of a moments team currently, with an exceptional goalkeeper, and some very good players in KDH Ndiaye Grealish Garner. I’d like to see us move towards a more defined style so we could all be going into tonight’s game knowing how we’re going to play and with a good chance of building consistency of results at home but maybe that is the next step in the evolution of the team.
I was 'lucky' to watch Newcastle game. Ugly business. Really fragile mentally after the first goal. Villa away I didn't see coming either.

After the utterly unacceptable 1st halves vs Leeds and Brighton, I'm trying not to get carried away by the Fulham result (delighted for those that travelled, obvs).

- Fulham were scandalously poor 2nd half. Like almost match-fixing bad.
+ Our two naturally left footed players did well for KDH goal
+ JoB (my player highlight this season) is becoming more of a nuisance up front
+ Some better crosses (not constantly hitting the 1st man)

As you say - we'll spin the wheel tonight and see. This lot can play a bit (good coach), keep Scott out of it.

I think they're there for the taking. Be aggressive wide, look for corners and throws to get our backline up there. To go out and boss someone would do our squad and particularly young players the world of good if a few can get on 2nd half.

GO AFTER THEM DAVEY WE NEED A SHOW AT HOME.
