2025/26 David Moyes

To be fair you can’t blame Moyes for playing 4 centre backs, putting a midfielder on the wing and having our players sit back providing no support to our centre forward. Not like he had fullbacks or wide players he could have started instead. You also can’t blame him for not giving Rohl or Aznou a single minute on the pitch after their stand out performances against Villa and Sunderland.

I understand people saying its boring but il take boring over relegation scrap any day of the week
I'd rather the manager letting the best and most attacking squad we've had in a decade actually play football on the front foot, and not insist on overseeing some of the most pragmatic football we've seen since Walter Smith was in charge.

He set up today like we were playing the 1970 Brazil side, not a Brighton team who've won one game in the last 10.

As I've said on another thread this evening; not being boring, and being in a relegation fight are not mutually exclusive.

They were set up to try and stifle Brighton. Not to win. Not to attack, but to block and to try and squeak a point.

Brighton were woeful and the decisions made with the starting XI hampered his efforts to adjust the tempo - it's quite hard to play on the front foot with 4 centre backs and 4 central midfielders.
Had he not been so bloody pragmatic (or even negative) to begin with we'd have performed infinitely better and give ourselves a chance of maintaining pressure on them in their half of the field.

Thankfully we have squad depth for the first time in a decade and some attacking changes saved us from a defeat that would have been a shocking result. Had KDH scored from that first shot, he'd have defaulted to type and we'd have had 10 men behind the ball.

We played really badly in the 1st half, but it happens. The 2nd half was much better and a point isn't a terrible result at Brighton.

I just can't get on board with the sentiment that this team is only a new manager who plays on the front foot away from mixing it with the big boys at the top.

Which is pretty much the same thing every game tbh.
I reckon 90% of strikers in the world would look the same in our team, and the other 10% who are able to create something out of absolutely nothing aren't coming to us. The biggest issue, time and time again, is the lack of attacking full backs which spread the game and create space in the middle of the park.

Four CBs at the back with a RB & a LB available says it all - I doubt he could pick his nose never mind a football team they Brighton had not won a game for 10 games - we were so lucky to get a draw - its so boring to watch too....

points … so you’d rather lose than play like say brighton?

and 1 win n in ten

therye home record is as good as our away one
