2025/26 David Moyes

….no idea where such comments come from, you could see the difference after the interval when we were clearly the team going for it. Hardly sounds like he gave a HT talk with instructions to hold onto what we have.

Don’t let the truth spoil the narrative 😄
We had 0.00000000000000xg in the first half! it was almost impossible to be worse.

If you don't think picking 4 CBs when he didn't have to isn't negative then im genuinely lost for words..

Realistically we are unlikely to win anything meaningful in the short term but it would be good to see some entertaining football & to have some hope of success. With Moyes we have neither.

Still better than what we've had for quite a few years. We can roll the dice in the summer and go for something new, but I think it's very likely the new manager thread won't read much better than this one does. Problems we face might be different but the frustration will be the same.

But then none of those around are on fire either. I'd say we're fortunate tbh the others are shocking too
The league isn’t the standard it’s built up to be. 34 points at this stage of the season when we didn’t have a squad in the summer is remarkable. We lost some important players although they were past the best, and improved the squad on a small budget in today’s financial market.

Good here this evening isn't it.
You can absolutely sense the fume off some that we equalised there .
Seething they are as their rants mean less now .
This is a very interesting observation and one that deserves a deeper dive I feel. Why would Evertonians on here be seething that Everton didn’t get beat?

Patterson comes in, does well in a difficult position for us - dropped
Rohl comes in against Villa, does well - dropped
Aznou comes in for what I assume Moyes thought was a meaningless two minutes cameo, changes the game and does well for over 30 minutes - dropped

Today's line up was a joke, particularly after a very poor performance against Leeds. If anyone continues to claim that Moyes doesn't pick his favourites or only selects the team based on merit or performance then they are being dishonest.

There’s a reason I say them things though isn’t there Moomin my old boy.

And I think the reason it gets under your skin is because it’s true, and I think you know it. Must be tough being dull!

I don’t need you to like Moyes, I can form my own opinion and honestly your obsession with me is flattering but I don’t want to be your friend, maybe you should spend time with people your own age.

Once again with the sub par insults. Doesn't get under my skin at all. Wish you would up your game if I'm being honest.

You tried to play the facts card and when called out you tried to play yourself off as a simpleton and I didn't make sense in my argument.

You then told me to take a walk and make a friend. You've stepped up to I should spend time with people my own age.

Such riposte, not sure if I can recover from it.

Mate, I'm very much pro-Moyes currently but I think it's ok to suggest that playing with no full backs and one recognised wide player was pragmatism gone too far for many people and the first half performance sort of encapsulated exactly what most thought would happen.

In fairness to Moyes, we were probably a bit unlucky to go behind but Brighton aren't Man City, the level of pragmatism felt disproportionate to the opponent.

Do I want Moyes gone at the end of the season? Absolutely not as things stand. I think his contract length is perfect for the initial rebuilding job and then we assess after that, but there are always going to be individual games/decisions where he doesn't get it right. I don't think he got it right today.

…it’s entirely pragmatic because he continues to pick up points.

Sure, he could’ve started Patterson, Aznou and Dibling but we get a tonking and the anti-brigade are back on here.

It’s not rocket science, he doesn’t go with Patterson and Aznou because he doesn’t trust them. He doesn’t think they’re up to it, especially with Brighton’s threat in wide areas. It’s not lack of experience, it’s lack of trust and faith in their ability.

He keeps selecting Armstrong because he trusts him, amazing show of faith in the young fella.

Team selection is judgement, he’s managed over 1.000 top flight games, of course he won’t get everything right but just maybe he knows what he’s doing.
