2025/26 David Moyes

so they’ve not missed a good few chances?

we’ve got the worst in the league

burnley/wolves aside

that’s huge in this league

Most strikers are much in line with their XG including Haaland & Barry & Beto. No strikers score from every chance.

There was of course one notable exception, Sandro Ramirez, 😵‍💫

….never in doubt;

That answers the question on the level of the owner’s ambition then. Prioritising stability over progress as a number of posters suspected.

I was naive in hoping for more.

Welcome Soucek, Stones, White ☹️

….this is what I don’t understand, we have progressed since Moyes took over from Dyche and he’s only had one proper window.

Last summer our permanent signings were Dibling, Rohl, Barry, Aznou and KDH. All seen as relatively young and progressive, not sure why posters suddenly see us bringing in the likes of Soucek, except it fits the lazy narrative.

He’s hardly played any of the young and progressive signings boss, hence the narrative. It’s not rocket science.

If wham go down, I’m telling you now, Davey will go in for soucek.

….bit of Groundhog Day discussion. I do agree some of the signings have disappointed, particularly the expensive Dibling & Barry duo. KDH has been terrific, Rohl could be a very good piece of business and Grealish was a shrewd acquisition (admittedly I was against). A mixed bag, but certainly progression.

I do think he could rotate more, Rohl, Armstrong and Iroegbunam in particular have earned more game time but it’s good to see us play away and actually create chances. Progress undoubtedly, it’ll take more than one summer to build on the squad he inherited.

So far so good. I honestly think there’s more chance of him being offered another year than being asked to leave.

Very much on the fence. Think I’d have preferred a new approach. He’s steady, but he has to improve next season - think he will have his work cut out, but least we know the direction of travel.

He’s here next season, just get behind the club, the team and the manager.
Said it couple of times.

2xFull backs
1x Forward
1xWinger
1x No6

Get them in team and see how we get on.

Once he's got them he hasn't got a leg to stand on, it's put up or shut up.

Sorry but I don’t see progress. I know it’s been done many times already on here but:

23/24 Pts 48 Pos 12th (adjusted for points deduction)
24/25 Pts 48 Pos 13th
25/26 Pts 49 Pos 10th (2 games left)

Moyes
24/25 H2 19 games 31 points ppg 1.63
25/26 H1 19 games 28 points ppg 1.47
25/26 H2 17 games 21 points ppg 1.24

Cups, squad development, etc, etc.
