Mate, I'm very much pro-Moyes currently but I think it's ok to suggest that playing with no full backs and one recognised wide player was pragmatism gone too far for many people and the first half performance sort of encapsulated exactly what most thought would happen.…..given the Mykolenko injury, the late change to include Branthwaite, the back four did ok. Aznou and Patterson more conventional full backs but Moyes knows the risk they carry. We could easily have been out of the game.
Not sure what team comfortably wins 2-0 at Brighton, wins are tough in this league.
Good game management, took the risk with the substitutions and it paid off.
In fairness to Moyes, we were probably a bit unlucky to go behind but Brighton aren't Man City, the level of pragmatism felt disproportionate to the opponent.
Do I want Moyes gone at the end of the season? Absolutely not as things stand. I think his contract length is perfect for the initial rebuilding job and then we assess after that, but there are always going to be individual games/decisions where he doesn't get it right. I don't think he got it right today.
