2025/26 David Moyes

It's a small sample size but he only lost 1 game with fans in the stadium under Carlo (league cup 1/4 final against Man U with something like 2000-4000 fans).

But honestly though, he'll end up back at Real Madrid.
Or United looking and sounding cool - with his son doing the heavy lifting...and ultimately the whole thing

I think it’s difficult to judge any of the managers after Koeman. The damage he did can’t be underestimated. The horrendous overpriced overpaid over-the-hill dross he saddled us with & totally unbalanced. I may be in a minority in believing that Moshiri had good intentions, but unfortunately trusted the wrong people. Then add the Ukraine war resulting in Usmanov being blocked (not comparing our woes with humans being bombed!!!!!). It was a difficult time for any manager & it’s a miracle we survived relegation.

With the squad we have now, yes we need fullbacks & another striker, but with Ndiaye, KDH, Grealish, Garner, Branthwaite, O’Brien, Gana etc…. I think several of our managers since Moyes 1 would be doing a better job than he is.

Blue Bill would have been constantly in his ear as well providing ‘advice’. Moshiri didn’t stand a chance but to his credit he got the stadium built & so will always be a part of the Everton history.

Exactly. Kenwright only ever wanted an investor who would keep him in place. “No stone unturned”. He allegedly rebuffed the Citeh Sheiks.

Agree with this. Moyes first time around I always thought the team was better than the sum of the individuals. This time I don’t think he is making the best use of the squad.

He stumbles upon something that may work and rather than develop it like in his first spell he reverts to his preferred line up at the earliest opportunity. Unfortunately his preferred line up isn’t working as highlighted by the abysmal football in the home games. He can still get the backs to the wall one nils though but the best that will get is survival.

The only thing I disagree with is I think he totally relies on individuals pulling a rabbit out the hat. Like a Cahill or an Ndiaye, KDH..

Some fans demand perfection and at any sign of imperfection the calls for a new manager come in.

As with a lot of unknowns, it is a risk. If we were close to relegation there would be no doubt that we needed change, but we aren't anywhere near and still looking up the table, rather than down. We are far from perfect. However, what we are is progressing and this is all after one transfer window.

I certainly don't think Moyes is the man to take us further forward, than competing for the lower/mid European places. He is also getting on and will be looking at an 'upstairs' job/full retirement in the next couple of years.

I think it would be too risky to get in a new manager for next season, if we are there or thereabouts (top half to Europe). If we are there then it should be about looking for a succession for the season after, at the very least.

Have to start some time.

Not sure of the point, apologies, but after Arsenal he went to PSG, then to Villareal. Then he turned the Newcastle job down before Howe got it, and then ended up at Villa.

PSG was before Arsenal. Only Villareal between Arsenal & Villa. What a great job he’s doing.

I don’t agree with those writing off Thomas Frank because he’s struggling at Spurs. Who knows what’s going on there? Brian Clough got immediately bombed out at Leeds, then went on to win the league & 2 European Cups with Forrest!

Yeah, but some people are making out Leeds are rubbish and should be an easy win. Football doesn’t work like that.
Wolves? Brentford looked like world beaters here and just got stonked by Dyche. Sunderland led us a merry dance in the FA Cup. Spurs, Newcastle? Our home form is ATROCIOUS, not just results but performances...to say anything else is just wearing Moyes coloured glasses...keep your data and spreadsheets, my eyes are old but we know when we're watching. Not saying he should be fired tomorrow for it but maybe he should be answering some tough questions other than "Leeds were up for it"

Can’t believe there’s people calling for his head. Some of our fans base are crazy.

I think it's crazier that any Everton fan with knowledge of the last 30yrs would be surprised that Moyes coming back would not be greeted with much joy by some of the fan base.

Hardly anybody bar a couple of the usual cranks are sayng sack now, most would prefer a change in the summer tho

On the forum I see only a little bit of really strong support. Off the forum I don't know anybody who is particularly happy to have him back.

Why would this be a suprise to anybody, I don't know but it seems to be for some reason

Choose Moyes and you choose a split in the fans that would only get more loaded on one side with every real or perceived failure. They chose Moyes, we got this.

Choose a new manager pls, then I hope the fan base can settle down and shut up for a couple of seasons while they do their job
