2025/26 David Moyes

this week has been really poor but things improve when branthwaite, and kdh come back into the side

assess in summer but i imagine he stays

and get him two full backs this window
This has been a mantra for the last month…not sustainable, then someone else will get injured or suspended…

Seeing the starting line up I am not surprised at the result but what annoys me still about DM was his attitude towards the League Cup. Dicking, around with the team and not playing Pickford was a disgrace. Overall, DMs return has been a sucess but its time to reassess. If we are building a young team you need a different type of manager than DM.

No i dont think its that. Two of our bench were 18 and one 17. Sunderlands bench were mostly mid 20s.
Its kicking time for Moyes i get it. But it doesnt change the fact the definition of down to the bare bones was Everton today
But that’s another thing labeled at him over not using young players I get it’s not the best of times to come on. But the games we have been getting beaten 3 nil or 4 nil there’s always the opportunity I get he had little choice yesterday but if you keep on using the same 13-14 players week in week out you are going to get injuries and suspensions other teams seem to play 17 year old players or again is that a problem with what’s coming through at the club or the coaching over the years not just under the latest set up.

woudnt wanna be stuck in the outback with you
I mean firstly you definitely wouldn’t I’m absolutely useless , a dead weight .

On my initial point I think that yesterday might be the first time I’ve ever messaged straight after a game before I’d got home and had time to ponder .

I’m not saying I’ve changed my mind yesterday was just so deflating . There is a young child in my extended family obsessed with football and despite his dad’s team I’ve tried to make Everton the choice . This week he had a chance to watch all 3 games , no all in person , and I think any Chance I had has gone . It’s draining and I’ll be honest not only was I upset at the culmination of results I was pretty angry .

We're going to have to play with an awful lot more cohesion and desire to get anything out of the Villa game and the way our current home form is I'm not even optimistic about playing newly promoted Leeds United after that. This side is absolutely drained of any confidence or verve. We look like a shadow of a team all the way across the pitch. Aznou was a breath of fresh air out there today, in contrast.

This is why all the ‘we’re only 4 points off fifth’ talk after we’ve taken 2 points from Burnley Brentford Wolves isn’t really useful, because what comes after a run of easy fixtures is a run of hard fixtures, and whilst we’re on that run that team that was in fifth will probably have an easier run of fixtures and so the gap can become a lot bigger in a few weeks. We effectively need to strike a few against expectation now to get back to where we were after we beat Forest. When you look at Villa’s home record though that’s difficult to see us doing an Untied or Bournemouth here.

Yeah there is an argument for the bigger picture Everton have not had a good record of having home grown players ready to step in for a while now. Its another issue i think has to be looked at.
Yesterday was mental though. 9 players missing who many are starters. Brought on a player yesterday who spent all of last season at relegated Ross County.

Am I wrong here?
Dýche 100% needed to go or we were doomed. Moyes was the safe option and surpassed my expectations with what he achieved.
I was/am always sceptical about him hanging around after this season insofar his brief was to stabilise us ready to handover to a new pair of hands.
Eternal pessimist I am thanks to supporting the club for an eternity but I'm sure we're safe for another year, in which case we can thank him and let him go.
And for those who will ask the names of those who will replace him, I just don't know, but there's someone out there.

Dyche had to go but we weren't doomed last season. The promoted teams were hopeless and couldn't win a game between them.

Moyes did a steady job, similar to Perreira at Wolves who came in to a worse position.
