2025/26 David Moyes

I'm not saying Moyes is the worst everton manager! Just that this is as bad a week of results as I've ever seen given all at home and all extremely winnable and how mad it got with red cards etc

The whole Benitez era was horrible. Every second of it from start to finish.
We weren't beating brentford in a month of Sundays. They should have scored seven or eight.
A side this low on confidence limped into the wolves game and invited them on.
We got gifted a lifeline back into the game today.

We've been poor, and missing a majority of our starting eleven (which isn't strong anyway). Hiding to nothing.

Just out of interest i had a look at how many appearences(starts) their bench has had in the prem this season. 66 games.
Evertons bench today was 13 and everyone of them was barry. The other 8 on the bench total prem appearences 0.
I get you dont like him and all that but thats ridiculous lol. 8 on the bench without a single game.
Possibly that their manager gave their squad/youth players game time instead of replacing the same players every game like for like Bertto for Barry how many times has Moyes used 5 subs and always has 2 keepers on the bench

Have we ever had a week with 3 home games in a row where we did this badly ?
Decided to have a peek at fixtures from Everton Results (excellent website) to see when we did as badly. Now at 1993/4 with good old Mike Walker. He lost 3 games in 6 days, God bless him. He also lost a fourth 10 days' later, lost 9 out of the first 13 games of the season, good times.

I'm trying really hard to word this without making excuses for Moyes, as I agree there's been some terrible decision making on his behalf of late, but we've certainly been through the wringer with sendings off, injuries etc. Just been a big mess this last week.
I agree. The whole thing is a mess. He seems to have been let down with Summer recruitment. We knew Afcon was going to affect the team. The bench today had 2 keepers and 2 x 17/18 year olds. The two defenders that he brought on are in their 20's and should have left the club after having made no impression by the time they reached their 19th Birthday. I watched the reserve team a few weeks ago and there is nothing coming through. The first team players also seem to lack any pride or passion for the club. Think as fans we need to get away from all of the smoke and mirrors of our new owners and stadium and start challenging them about the state that our club is in.

Yeah granted results wise, I did a quick google and couldn't see anything. Poor performances too.

Every week Rafael was in charge was worse for me personally.
Look at the 4 game period in December 1983 when we lost to QPR and Wolves away and drew nil-nil with Sunderland and Coventry at home.

I think the Coventry game was the shortest featured highlights ever on MOTD.

Now that was a desperate time.

Interesting to see a slight tactical switch from Moyes today with Garner dropping back between split centre halves to start our play and miko / Patterson pushing on. Didn’t do it consistently but I’d be on board with that if he can find the conviction to make it work
And how bad was it watching Garner standing with the ball so many times because no one wanted it off him or moved for him

I'd have Moyes out of the club in a heartbeat, but I am more concerned by the owners and how this club is run. The stadium has been used as the great distractor over the last 12 months. Yet, the competent professionals who were supposed to steer this club back to greatness were still on gardening leave waiting to start their new roles when our summer window was closing. We then spent less than we had apparently budgeted for, all the while prioritising players for the future when we didn't have enough full backs for the present. Going out of the cups to Wolves and Sunderland at the first hurdle is not progress. Being 12th when that's where the despised Sean Dyche had us eighteen months ago is not progress.

Forget the manager. What have these new owners done to materially change the record on the pitch? They don't even turn up to watch us. Their focus seems exclusively on off-field activity, stadium sponsorships, catering deals, fourth kit launches... Great, you say: all vital and much-needed income. But is it going on players or is it going on fattening up our balance sheet for a flip in a few years?

This club has been pulling the wool over people's eyes with that new stadium. We now seem to be a venue rather than a football club with a team that makes us an attraction. Instead of marveling at our players and their play, we marvel at some architecture. Might as well visit the Sistine Chapel. Might meet Dan there as he actually visits Rome now and then.

They did spend £100m plus Rohl & Grealish & so backed the management.

Got to say I’d be annoyed at the lack of progress & questioning why the current management should be backed again.

If I was them I would wait to the end of the season to see if there is any improvement but wouldn’t be averse to some loans.

Not sure which of the management should carry the can if it carries on as is.
