2025/26 David Moyes

Did the same at Rome, got rid of a legend and then appointed a safe pair of hands, got rid and appointed a brilliant manager and now reaping the benefits. And it will be 18 months, he’s been in charge.
Fair enough mate, I'm not actually arguing about whether he should be given the elbow or not, I'm just pointing out that logically the owners don't have much cause to suggest that he should be doing lots better than we are currently doing, from the perspective of the budget we are working to.

I've just seen and heard it all before. Our annual get rid of the manager threads. Moyes is good at this level. It might not be exotic but he'll bring some much needed stability in the time he's here.

I personally don't think we're ready to move to the next level yet nor do I think we'll be able to attract anyone capable of doing that. It's not like the squad is on the verge of something special.

We are 12th currently.

I said before the season started:

1: Get 8th (lowest place for europe)
2: Develop players

Now either one of these is fine for me. 12th would be fine if I saw player development.

Not seeing anything.

Pochettino would be the one to build on mid table to top 6. Like he did at Spurs.

Then make a decision on a manager to win things. Stage by stage.

Am I wrong here?
Dýche 100% needed to go or we were doomed. Moyes was the safe option and surpassed my expectations with what he achieved.
I was/am always sceptical about him hanging around after this season insofar his brief was to stabilise us ready to handover to a new pair of hands.
Eternal pessimist I am thanks to supporting the club for an eternity but I'm sure we're safe for another year, in which case we can thank him and let him go.
And for those who will ask the names of those who will replace him, I just don't know, but there's someone out there.

Agreed.

It’s a worry. I wouldn’t be too mad about today given the total lack of options. But I do worry when we have a run of games where the players that are available clearly aren’t at it. Need to concede a goal and a half time rollicking to show any real effort and passion. And pride. It’s not normally after a run of those sorts of half arsed efforts that managers leave. Why is there no urgency in the players, particularly those that aren’t regulars? It’s like we aren’t going to be in relegation trouble so the flip flops are on. And HD is less a fortress, more a bored, disappointed mausoleum, and it’s these lazy games doing it.

If we were to have an amicable parting of ways with a smooth-ish transition to a more progressive and motivational manager, who would that be? I haven’t a clue. But they have got a bag of spanner’s to work with in this awfully assembled “squad”.

Last seasons football under Moyes and this seasons are night and day.

Slow and negative.

There’s only 20 PL jobs, only a few become available each season. Then take out the ones you can’t get due to club rivalry (e.g Pochettino isn’t going to be Arsenal manager) then take out the ones that wouldn’t appeal (e.g newly promoted team, teams with massive PS&R problems, teams with terrible owners etc.). Most managers who have tasted the intensity of the PL want to get back there. A lot of them put roots down in England too.

At the salary we would be offering, I reckon we could attract someone like Pochettino, I think Mourinho would come back to England, who knows if Sarri would, Nagelsmann could be interested, would Fabregas be interested in a PL job, would Xavi?

I think there’d be an awful lot of interest.

Needs to be a next stage manager like Poch who can build a top young team OR a young manager with innovative ideas.

Pochettino would be great but you'll have to wait till after next year's world cup to get him so the pre season will be screwed up so not a viable option I'm afraid

Could you give me an example of a CEO who is ept and why you think that Vs the 6 month judgement of our CEO?

Is ept a work?

There's a number of very good CEO. Barber at Brighton is does well for example.

I mean, any CEO that doesn't put themselves in charge of recruitment and leave the team with 12 usable players for a key fixtures would be better.

We've literally lobbed 80m down the bog on Dibling, Barry and Rohl matty. Not worth spending anymore because Moyes and the recruitment team have got far more wring than right haven't they.

Our full backs are crap, just like they were in the summer
Our wingers have no pace, just like in the summer
Our strikers are crap, just like in the summer
i’m talking about NOW

Ok, that was a more than a little bit wishy washy, given the wide remit of a CEO

You seem to be limiting your assessment of a CEO to who a team buys?

Everyone knew this period would be tough over the winter with the african nations and injuries.
Everyone.
Yet we hit a rough patch with a 1/4 strength team and the Moyes haters grasp it and double down on him😴🥱
He was doing just fine until this player shortage crisis.
Yeah sack him and get on the merry go round again.
Who do you want in? Amorim? Frank? Potter? Howe? Unkown foreign genius?
Moyes did not take those jaw droppingly crap pens and did not have the players to impliment champions league like tactics today....or make meaningful subs.
But no...Moyes out. Yeah right.
Same as last time he was here.
He left then and we never recovered.
