2025/26 David Moyes

I think a lot of that is making Grealish the focal point. He always slows down attacks. No idea how to "change" that without removing him from the lineup but he's our second best player right now.
That's only because we have a few out, when up to full numbers he isn't our second best player imo. I know he got 2 assists in that game the other day but prior to that he has done little for weeks now, he is extremely easy to knock off the ball and gives it away nearly as much as McNeil does. I'm not totally subscribed into this 'fullback' thing everyone keeps going on about meaning his game will suddenly explode, yes we need upgrades (we don't really have a RB) but given the way we setup and team tactics they are just going to be expected to ping balls into the box which imo will make us even more predicable than we are now.

I’ll be bitterly disappointed if we don’t replace him when the season ends.

His football at home kills the atmosphere, and he’s never proactive with his bench. Not much point sacking him mid season when a lot of managers will be available in the summer, but surely TFG will want more from their investment than this

We won't sign more than a couple as moyse cannot handle a big squad he proved that at united, then west ham, their squad was increased after european succes, he can't handle making big changes, we'll always be safe, but that's it

If you’d of offered us mid table last year we’d of took it obviously, Moyes has done a good job at steadying the ship.

The most frustrating part about him and this has always been truthful. Hes a very good manager who has got it in him to set us up and demolish teams like wolves. But he is too cautions and it’s frustrating knowing we absolutely have it in us to do better but don’t , simply because of fear. He has the tactical nouse to do it, but doesn’t sometimes

I think he’s gone in the summer. He was brought in to keep us up and succeeded. They offered him an 28 month contract but as we were desperate he insisted on a 2 1/2 year deal and got it. We now desperately need reinforcements and there’s no rush to bring them in. The board have obviously decided that we should be safe enough and don’t want to waste any more money on bringing in players which mightn’t suit a new manager. We’ll go with what we’ve got
January to May is 5 months, 2 years is 24 months. the highlighted above is a nonsense.

The players we wanted either were not available or didn't want us. Imagine how crazy the crowd go with Sidibe or Martina still stinking the gaff out. This is the cost of benitez and koeman and lampard, we've been managed into the gutter and are not an attractive proposition. We had a squad in mutiny 12 months ago, a manager that had given up where his MO is he never gives up and leaving Goodison was close.

We're a mess, we've been a mess for a long time, and all the bellyaching wont fix it. Other sides can throw money away hand over fist, we got penalised for being unable to sell our (still) most expensive ever signing. The playing field isn't level, and no one can fix our sorry situation on their own.

Look
At the last time he was, which was an easier time because basically about 4 Teams spent money the other 16 were scrapping around in similar markets. But just look at his wide players all slow,
Kilbaine, McFadden, arteta, peinaar,
Osman. He bought mirallas in 2012 I think, same with strikers, took him
6 seasons to buy a class striker.

The game and the prem has moved on,
All the teams can spend a 100mil and obviously 5/6 can spend 250 mil. But he’s still stuck in his ways, wide midfielders instead of pacey wingers, poor strikers. Midfielders playing number 10.

It’s not the fact that we drew 1-1 with wolves that is the problem.

It’s not the team selection either. If Keanes header goes in for 2-0 instead of hitting the post then we win.

It’s the fact that every man and his dog could see the game unfolding in the second half and that wolves were getting on top and he did nothing.

He’s destroying Dibling and Aznou too. Not only that, he’s sending their careers backwards. That’s 50m he’s unable to coach.
Have we seen anything of Aznou to know he's gone backward?

Could do with a Director of Football. Pick a style & system, buy players for it, get a coach in to coach them. Works for Brentford, Brighton, etc. which is the company we are in.You can then recruit/develop coaches as you do players.
Brentford have absorbed a manager change & player sells & gone forwards. We spent £100m plus & have gone backwards.

Seems it was binned at Moyes request so that he had control. Think that was a big mistake in retrospect if Moyes is an interim safe pair of hands.

Do you buy full backs or wing backs. If we had a system, a style or some sort of philosophy it would help.

Football is supposed to be entertaining & Moyes is serving up a marginally better version of Dycheball.

There’s just a lack of conviction in how we play.

I could even accept last few seasons when we had poorer squads, that they were just crap, we generally took what little chances we had fairly well and defended resolutely at times but we were terrible so that’s about all we had.

What absolutely grates me about the majority of Everton teams over my lifetime is we just do everything halfhearted. Underhit through balls, underhit shots, jumping out of tackles, dangling legs in penalty areas, half hearted blocks. We had enough chances to win that game last night but it’s so rare that you see any player at Everton (probably apart from Keane) just put his foot full through a shot, early with conviction.

It’s the same with early crosses, or wingers taking full backs on, or midfielders striding forwards. I’d accept it more if they just did something and it didn’t work out but it’s this constant checking back inside, taking an age over a forward pass just to play it backwards instead, turning down a dangerous cross to play it to a fullback who can’t cross it any way, turning down a shot at goal only to delay and move it to the weaker foot and scuff it anyway, not making the first tackle properly and then having to foul for a silly yellow.

We just have no conviction about anything that we do. It breaks out now and again like KDH vs United or Ndiaye v Sunderland, Grealish hitting the line v Brighton and first time ball in. We just don’t do it enough, there’s just doubt and second guessing in everything we do.
