2025/26 David Moyes

When we go out the cup I hope we thank him & let him go as job done, avoiding relegation. appoint Baines as interim manager until the end of the season whilst working on a new manager for next season.
There's zero chance of that happening. He may very well be done if we go out of the cup but they aren't going to sack him mid-season because of a throughly mediocre campaign. It doesn't make any sense for them to do it. He'll either go in the summer or be here for the remainder of his contract. As frustrating as he is, our league position is not a sackable one given the ones we've been in for the previous four campaigns.

I always defend Moyes but starting Jake at right back and keeping McNeil on for so long last night was pretty indefensible.

We don’t get enough players in the box either so we’ll never score many goals. Not bothered if he leaves in summer.
And he won’t even change it.

But, 29 points by the first week of January and no risk of relegation for the first time in years.

Yes, he has his faults but I'm more than happy he's here at the moment.

Bit of solidity is great, look to build on that with the right appointment in the future. Remember what happened last time he left, we don't want or need a repeat of el fraudo
So I was probably in a similar position to you until yesterday ,although Brentford will have contributed. For all your relative positivity you must have been as angry as the rest of us with those second half tactics ?

Yeah we all knew starting JOB at right back and McNeil was going to be an issue, I'm not particularly having a go at Keane here either but JOB deserved the centre back spot after Forest because he had an excellent game I thought. It's weird how managers like Dyche and Moyes appear determined to shoehorn certain players into the team and bring them back in to a team at the first opportunity. Remember how long Dyche played Keane in the team then finally relenting and playing Branthwaite but it took months! Anyway circumstances will now surely dictate that JOB starts at centre back , who knows what he will do with Mcneil but despite Grealish sending off and ban there are other options.

His style this season has been far too pedestrian.

Play with a bit of urgency and tempo for once. This slow football is horrible to watch.
In fairness the slow build up play has now developed into a collect the ball then play a misplaced pass to an opposition player or get caught in position while pondering what to do with the big white thing.

Yes, you could see their goal coming a mile off.

Problem was even before the sendings off, I looked at our bench and wondered what changes he could have made. I'd have taken off McNeill, as whilst I do like him and he has had his moments for us, I think he's been left behind now and looks a bit lost. Aside from that, I didn't know what changes could be made

If I see Moyes and Irvine staring at their little screen and muttering to each other for 20 minutes before eventually subbing Barry for Beto on 75 mins…. 🤬 as soon as Wolves changed tactics, he should have rung the changes.

McNeil slows the game down - his mazy little backwards 50 yard run a few minutes in, just to lay the ball off to one of our defenders typifies what he brings. Losing possession every time he has the ball. No legs to beat a player or run for a return ball. He’ll close down space, play a safe pass and can cross a dead ball, that’s it. Grealish slows the game down too. Ball to feet and fair enough, he’ll maybe pick a pass and provide an assist so he actually merits his place. But you can’t have 2 wingers that slow the game down, and no attacking fullback behind them…

Frustrating thing is, last night we had the players to win that game - Dibling provides pace and trickery that McNeil doesnt. JOB is an outstanding CB. If he’d started those 2 with Patterson instead of shoehorning in his boys McNeil and Keane, I think we’d have won that easily.

Wolves changed tactics at half time. Moyes did nothing to counter for 25 minutes. When they inevitably scored, he went into panic mode. And then utter chaos when Keane stupidly got sent off…

Agree with all that, and Dibling absolutely should have come on - but he has no pace either.
